hard disk enclosure September 2, 2008 M. Taylor (England) This is a great product at a good price delivered, it arrived very quick and well packed I had 3 old hard drives kicking about so I retrieved the data of all of them before actually putting the lid on the enclosure with the best one in it, I found all drives were detected with the jumper removed and worked well on XP and VISTA after retrieving data I was able to remove all partitions and format the drives with disc managment on my XP desk top computer. great product and great service.
Vista compatible August 13, 2008 B. Grimley (Scotland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Same issues as other reviewers: no instructions, so following other guidance to depress the two plastic lugs, then fit the plastic stabilisers to the disc unit, connect up the cables and fit the whole thing back together. Pretty simple really, and only takes a couple of minutes. Connected to PC running Vista, and the disc was up & running perfectly first time. Good value for money.
does all you need July 1, 2008 Dr. Douglas Small it does what you want. slap the disk in connect the cables and it is about 5 mins from opening the box to reading yuor data. what more could you want for the money?
Compatability issue June 20, 2008 J. Rogerson (Lancashire, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to house a spare Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 160GB ATA/133 drive. I installed the drive and tested on an old IBM Thinkpad 600 running Windows 2000 with a PCMCIA USB adaptor. I could not get anything to work. I tried a different drive which did not work either and then tested both drives to see if they were OK which they were. Finally I tried the enclosure with a different PC USB port and everything worked. My guess is that the enclosure USB port and my specific PCMCIA adaptor were not compatible for some reason. I have had no problems with the PCMCIA adaptor and other USB devices eg. cameras, other USB HDD enclosures and a DVD writer. Everything has now been running OK for 15 mins. Other observations The enclosure and the power supply do get quite warm. There are no instructions as others have noted. The unit is cheap and cheerful as others have noted. But it has worked for 15 mins so for the moment I am reasonably happy with it.

Took 5 minutes to open, put in hard disc, connect up and I was ready to start backing up. No problems. Previous reviews re opening etc. were very useful.
