Product Description Choosing the right external enclosure is not easy, especially if you don't exactly know what you're looking for. There are so many products that look alike and price seems to be the only obvious differentiator. Yet differences can be found when it comes to reliability and build quality. We urge people with important or expensive data to consider spending a little extra on a higher quality passive unit. Passive models offer several advantages over fan cooled models - they are completely sealed so will never collect internal dust or be damaged from a liquid spill. They are also SILENT in operation and used in sound recording studio's for this reason. Fans can become louder over time and will eventually need to be cleaned or replaced. The heatsink alone weighs over 550g and is up to 7mm thick giving the drive a VERY solid feel and powerful cooling performance. There are no drivers to install - Simply plug into a spare USB port and get instant access- The power adaptor supplied is a heavy duty switched mode supply so can be used in 24/7 operation with no problems. Everything you need to build a reliable external disk drive is included in the kit - a screwdriver is also included - it takes about 5 minutes to install your disk drive and is suitable for buyers with little or no computer DIY experience.

Looks smart and works fine July 17, 2008 J. Nash 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The box came with everything that was needed - they even included a little screwdriver! It didn't have instructions, but it's dead easy to figure out though - there's two screws on one end, unscrew them and the middle section slides out (the side with the on/off button can be unplugged to make this easier). Pop your harddrive in, fasten it from below with the screws provided in the box, slide it back into the enclosure and close everything up. Done! The case has no fans so the only noise you get is the noise your harddrive makes. My drive is quite old so it is a tad on the noisy side, but I imagine newer disks will be quieter. I plugged it into my computer (an Ubuntu Linux box) and could access the harddrive (which was divided into many partitions) right away with no problems. Yay! Very pleased with my new toy. :-)
