Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The successor to the CP720, the Selphy CP740 photo printer is the perfect family printer. This printer includes a red-eye correction function, which is a first for printers of this line. Plus, this Canon printer has a 2? LCD screen so you can comfortably view your picture before making those last few touch-ups using several in-built functions, such as the skin tone feature. Equipped with a memory card reader, the Selphy CP740 can print your digital photos in just 58 seconds for postcard formats. Its 300 x 300 dpi resolution and thermal sublimation technology will make true-to-life reproductions that are incredibly durable and resistant. Canon guarantees long-lasting prints of 100 years with the Selphy CP740.

5 out of 5 stars nice little unit   July 6, 2008

I ordered this printer together with a pack of KP-108P (which arrived a day before the printer). Although I have only just received the printer, I am very pleased with it in general. I found things very easy to follow using the handbook supplied and have printed the full version handbook from the supplied disc. Paper loading is straightforward and easy, not at all 'clunky' as others have found. I used the paper and cartridge supplied to print from my SD card which was too easy for words. I needed to buy an extra USB cable in order to print directly from my PC, again, this operation was simple and easy, athough I was thrown off course until I realised that the inbuilt visual display will only show a diagram depicting the connected printer and PC. Overall a very nice compact unit that produced truly great prints.I would thoroughly recommend anyone looking for a photo printer to buy this one.

4 out of 5 stars Good quality photo printer   May 7, 2008

Very high standard quality of photo printing, it is far better than the regular photo printers.

Good point:
High quality, easy to set up, computer free, preview screen

Bad point:
Expensive cost on use, dependent on the ink quality, printing the post card size only.

Overall:
If you wanna a photo keep the good memories, this is the best choice for you. Worthy to buy if you could afford the cost of ink.

4 out of 5 stars Double check the specs!   December 9, 2007

This is a good quality simple to use, no nonsense photo printer and at a good price. However there are a few things to bear in mind! If you have a camera with an XD memory card you may will need to buy an adapter for it to work and make full use of the options!.......this can be expensive for a XD to Compact Flash adapter, the XD to Smart Media adapter on Amazon is a lot cheaper and hopefully will fit and work in the SD card slot.
Other wise you fill have to use your cameras USB cable to connect it up and print using the lcd screen on the camera, but losing the printer options. Although a bit more expensive the CP750 allows you to crop and adjust the colour settings which this model doesn't.
Overall a good easy to use printer with great results, but think twice of you have an XD or Micro memory card that will need an adapter, and if this model had the trim and crop option it would have made it a 5 star rating and just might be worth the extra for the CP750 for some.

5 out of 5 stars Small but beautiful   November 14, 2007

Excellent product. The instructions are fairly straight forward and printer was working within a short time. Print quality is excellent. Difficult to distinguish from traditional prints.
I have used it mostly direct from camera on site (use a power inverter from your car cigarette lighter) and it has been a hit with everyone who has seen it.
As long as you are aware of the limited print size, this has so far been an excellent buy. If you want mobile printing of photographs, or just to take it round to Auntie's so she can chose which pictures she wants, you will find it does the job well.
