Awkward to use and unreliable June 30, 2008 Beans (Hampshire, UK) I have had this printer for about two weeks weeks and am disappointed by it - perhaps to be expected of a printer that comes at under 20. When it does print it works well, and the pages look good quality, but it seems incapable of printing anything without at least three pop-up messages and a paper jam. The pop-up messages unnecessarily inform me when it is switched on, off (regardless of whether I'm trying to print at the time), and in between that it is "ready", inviting me to buy products online or to go to the HP online customer service section even when there is no reason to and even after I thought I had switched all of these off. The cartridges supplied are only 5ml and are already running low; the last print-out was fine, but when I try to print anything now all it does is issue a pop-up window telling me that the cartridges are low on ink; it won't even try to print any more. This morning I ended up uninstalling the entire HP software and driver package after the "low ink" message popped up literally every two seconds across everything else I was doing at the moment, even though the printer was switched off at the time and not being used. All in all I would absolutely not recommend it. The low price is about all that can be said for it, but this is invalidated rather by the relatively expensive replacement cartridges.
At this price you can't lose June 22, 2008 Dave M (Hampshire, England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
So what do you expect for this kind of money? What you get is a simple printer that installs easily and performs exactly as you would want. OK, the speed may be a bit slower than more expensive devices and the casing may feel a bit lightweight, but it costs less than a couple of replacement cartridges! As with any printer, there is no printer lead in the box. However, this has been the case for years now and most of us already have the necessary leads lying around the house and, if not, they're not too expensive to buy. If a lead had been in the box, then I expect it would have cost more... All in all, at this price you cannot lose.
Complete waste of money June 22, 2008 C. CARDWELL (N.Ireland) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Do NOT waste your money on this printer. I bought 2 of them for printing address labels in work and both of them packed in within 6 weeks, both with the same problem (not recognising the ink cartridges). Hours of uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers on different computers brought no success. The only saving grace was that they were cheap! They'll be going back to Amazon soon for credit. Don't waste your time or your money...you get what you pay for!

Great value for money January 19, 2008 M. F. Penrose (England) 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
I only needed this printer for small word documents to be printed so i wasn't too bothered about the quality or speed of this printer. however just to test it out when i received it first i tried out its Internet Explorer plug-in, which allows you to drag around any part of a web page and print ONLY that selection. i tried this with a colour page and it produced quickly a high quality print off. This was a pleasant surprise to me, as a printer for this money should be rubbish. it comes with introductory cartridges, not sure how long they will last, but the replacement hp 21(black) and 22(colour) cartridges cost together just over 16. or even less when really bargain hunting. its best feature to me is its size. its almost smaller thatn your average bread bin, even with the paper flap open. the only downside to me is its paper alignment flap. it has a small bit of plastic to push the paper to the right, yet when you do this the paper gets scrunched up on that side. ive found that it infact needs to be pushed up against the moveable part to the left instead to get the paper in straight when printing. a small flaw i know, but there aren't any others of which to mention. i'd definitely recommend this to anyone on a budget, but still wants quality.
