Great All Rounder April 6, 2008 Mr. Robert J. Cumming (London) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love this machine, it can do everything it says pretty much, just don't try and refill the HP cartridges yourself otherwise you may find it leaks huge black ink marks over your pretty pictures!
good hardware .... software seems an after thought March 24, 2008 Supeno (spain) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this printer 9 months ago, and have decided to vent my frustration here. The software for this is poor (I am an application developer). Its not intuitive or easy to use. The online update opens windows all the time even though I have it disabled in configuration. It crashes my laptop often after scanning. Its like software from the mid 90s. I would avoid this printer, and will probably avoid HP next time.
Vista compatibility/ hp POOR support March 17, 2008 Mr. Darren W. Oates (uk) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Like many other reviewers, HP do a great job when you first buy this. Unfortunately after a while things go wrong and the support from HP is extremely poor to say the least. All they needed to do was send us a disk to update the drivers (like they have done for all US customers) rather than the download which does not work. Your money is better spent elsewhere if you don't want to spend 20 hrs trying to get this working. Seriously all the good reviews from this printer are when people have just purchased, look 6 months down the line of the reviewers who are throwing this out rather than those who have just purcahsed. DONT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS PAIN.
Awful Printer January 4, 2008 Jeffrey_bowling19 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
This has got to be the worst printer I have ever worked with and being in the IT field I work with a lot. But to make matters worse the company doesn't have a return policy for it. They will blame it on the software and drivers for it, so you are stuck with a bad printer. Save yourself some money and buy another brand.
Rubbish - Don't Bother November 7, 2007 Mr. M. L. Harding (Liverpool, UK) 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
I've had a C3180 for several months now. Initially HP had to replace the whole printer because it was having phantom paper jams. Recently the printer driver on my Mac has been autonomously stopping the print half-way through. It never prints a whole document all the way through. I just installed two brand new HP ink cartidges for it hoping to solve this problem and it is telling me that the colour cartridge has been incorrectly installed, even though there is nothing wrong with the cartridge (it's brand new!) and it was installed exactly as the functioning black cartridge. It seems like one problem after another. HP phone support is based in India or Pakistan and I don't want to sound at all xenophobic but it makes communicating your technical support problems terribly difficult. I recently emailed HP customer support via their website but have not recieved a reply for 2 or 3 days! The pinter has also been disconnecting randomly even though the USB cable is constantly connected. This could have something to do with the random stopping. I have tried all the usuals; reinstalling the printer software etc but now that my 20 worth of colour cartridge has decided to play up I'm ready to throw it out of the window.
