IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A SNAIL PACE LAPTOP THEN THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU. I PURCHASED THIS LAPTOP FOR MY MAIL ORDER BUSINESS, TAKES AGES TO LOAD UP, PROGGRAMS LIKE M.WORD EXCEL ALL VERY SLOW. THE MOUSE PAD IS HIGHLY ANOYING, VERY VERY ANOYED WITH OVERALL QUALITY. HIGHLY ADVISE TO STEER WELL CLEAR!!
worth the money but way too slow to use it June 20, 2008 S. V. W. Hettiarachchige 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
its been 2 days since i bought this laptop and never happy with it. it works really slow. if u listen to a song it takes absolutely ages to load an IE page at the same time. i tend to lose my temper whenever i use this. i had a sony vaio fe series, almost same spec, but had 2 gb ram and 100 gb hard drive. but it was a duo core intel processor at 1.83ghz. it got stolen hence the purchase of this item. this works at half the speed of my vaio. its worth the money but i wouldnt recommend it unless u r really desperate to buy a cheap laptop
Good value for money June 4, 2008 M. Gifford (the pitch) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I purchased this from play.com for 400 because amazon did not stock it at the time. At 300 I believe this is a bargin. quick run down of the good and bad points. good. lovely screen, everyone seems impressed with it. 17" Widescreen, Clear and Bright. 2nd spare hard drive slot, simple installation compared accessing the RAM compartment. Works well with the TV, i.e. I can plug this into the TV and watch bbc.co.uk/iplayer or a DVD etc without any problems. Battery life is good. bad. Small Hard drive, especially with the current partition. Feels flimsy. RAM installation is just pathetic, not an easy simple method but doable. Acer software. Keyboard isn't the nicest, low quality compared to other Branded laptops at the same price. Not for games, the graphics will not allow you play games like a desktop. This is a good laptop if you want to use it for Documents, Movies, the WWW. Anything more like games is asking too much. I suggest getting a USB Mouse because the mouse system on this laptop is horrible.
no support for XP April 24, 2008 J. Emmanuel (Harare) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
Since buying this machine, I have been unable to use it, as I need to make it comply with our network running XP Pro. 4 detailed emails to the "support" centre resulted in the final email telling me "As per the terms and conditions of the warranty we only support the OEM version installed NOT any copy you want to install which is why we can not help you to install XP" Thanks for nothing - and where is this small print on-line? I have recommended to Amazon that this should be stated in the product description, as it is a serious short fall. I noted one customer has installed linux? If anyone can point me to drivers etc for XP so I can format it and re-load I would be delighted, as acer cant help
KP April 5, 2008 keith.p (Warrington, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The only reason I have not given this 5 stars is due to the poor sound quality and volume. Though there is a vast improvement when you plug speakes into it. The 1GB memory is insufficient and the laptop struggles with Vista. I upgraded mine to 2 x 1GB and it has made a significant difference. Otherwise, the 7520 is an absolute bargain. It feels very good quality and is not too heavy for a 17" laptop. The screen quality and graphics are excellent. The keyboard has is soft touch and gives a positive click. All in all, a top quality laptop and a ridiculously low price.
