If you're hesitating - don't! August 7, 2008 A. Thomas 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My Eee PC arrived yesterday afternoon. Although I use a PC daily with my work, I'm not very 'techy' and was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get it up and running. I needn't have worried - I just followed the Quick User Guide to get started, plugged it in, and managed to get straight onto the internet with no problems. I opened my Hotmail account and was able to open, edit and save both Excel and Word files with absolutely no difficulty. The only two problems I foresee are: 1) loading any additional software packages, as it doesn't have a CD drive, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it; and 2) keeping it hidden from my two teenage daughters, who would both like to get their hands on it!!
small, snazzy, works like a wonder!! July 22, 2008 Shaken by Shakespeare (Liverpool, Uk) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Finally got hold of mine last week; have adored it ever since. Being a writer, I know that inspiration can strike anywhere; but before this little thing came along, life was all about illegible handwriting on spare bits of paper. Now, life is about being able to take word-processed drafts with me anywhere. Last night I tried it out on a gym bench, balanced on just one leg, and it stood the test: I typed like possessed for two hours (that's the minimum battery life, running windows xp at maximum brightness - nearly twice my home 4kg laptop). The keyboard itself is great. Granted it's rather small but nothing that you cannot get used to, I barely make mistakes as I type by now. My word of advice to those who are suspicious of the small keyboard is: type one-handed, your main hand will learn to cope with the left bit of the keyboard almost instantly. In my opinion, this little thing is a modern writer's best friend; the best invention since the portable typewriter.
