Comparison of 3 portable speakers September 17, 2008 H. Clargo (UK) iStuff Companion Speakers Good points: very, very small & light & have a neat little case if you like that kind of thing. No batteries or power is needed, which makes them very portable. Bad points: poor quality sound and distortion at high volumes. The maximum volume is just enough to be heard in one room, but not if the room is full of people. Also the headphone jack lead is very short. Portable Folding Speakers for Ipods & mp3 players - white = the same as you find on lots of websites. Good points: maximum volume better than iStuff. Not too big. Bad points: heavier than the others because of need for batteries. This is its greatest limitation, I think. Batteries only last about 6 - 8 hours and because you need to turn the speakers off when not using them, you can't use them with a timed programme (e.g. wake up to music or go to sleep with music). They come with a USB power adapter, but they don't get much louder than my computer's built-in speakers, so what's the point if I need to connect to my computer anyway? Loud enough for one room, but not if the room is full of people. They also distort at high volumes. The headphone jack lead is very short. Sony SRS-P7 Stereo Speaker System for Walkman - Silver Good points: very light and not too big, although bigger than iStuff. Tough - I must have dropped mine hard at least 20 times before one little wire came loose. Has long headphone jack lead. No need for batteries or power, which makes them easily portable. I used them as my only speakers for 4 years, would recommend them & will get them again if I kill them. Bad points: Sound also distorts at high volumes, but maximum volume is louder than the other two.
great little gadget August 9, 2008 pen name (uk) Cleverly designed - very neat folding system - sound is a bit tinny - but what do you expect for the price - great value for money
Very good value for the money July 4, 2008 Ms. K. L. Richardson (Cornwall. UK.) I was very impressed with this item. I didn't expect much for that money but was pleasantly surprised. Good sound considering the size and cost and perfect for travel.
just the thing for travelling June 22, 2008 K. Neal (UK) The speakers were ideal for popping into my holiday bag given the luggage weight restrictions on certain budget airlines. They take a 4 pack of AAA batteries. The sound quality was impressive for a basic little item. I ran my Ipod nano every day on the speakers for a week whilst enjoying the outdoor life and one set of batteries lasted. Well recommended.
Great May 18, 2008 Dr. Mhr Chowdhury For the price you are not going to get anything better. Great product, Great price, Good sound, What else can you ask for?
