Very tricky software, but worth tweeking. February 23, 2008 D. Taylor I read a lot of other reviews before buying this, and although a lot of them said it was difficult to set up, I wasn't put off. They were right though, the software (including plug-ins) are appalling. I ended up wasting 6 hours installing and reinstalling the software to get it working. On the plus side, the Philips website does have a very good support section with tutorials that even a moron would understand. Having slated the software, I can't fault the player itself. It's easy to navigate and operate and the FM radio is pretty decent also. You also get accessories included like a case and lanyard, which a lot of mp3's don't have. After buying lots of flash mp3 players that have let me down, I'm definitely a convert to these HDD players. I would advise caution before buying this one or its Philips counterparts, as the software installation will drive you crazy if your PC knowledge isn't top notch.
DON'T BUY THIS April 21, 2007 Ms. B. S. Jones (uk, cardiff) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This mp3 has been nothing but trouble, the tracks will not play even though they have been transfered have sent one back twice to be repaired and came back still not working. Philips totally unhelpfull, at this point was finally offered a refund only to be rung up a week later to be told couldn't have a refund as it needed to be sent back three times before they would even think about me having a refund, when i challenged them about it, saying that they had alredy offered me a refund I was bascilly called a liar. After sending it back for the third time they sent me a new one which still doesn't work, so now i have to start the battle with them again. Please don't put yourself through this, what kind of a company decides that somthing needs to be sent back three times before they will consider it broken, a very shoddy one. Philips are the wrost company I have ever had to deal with, will never buy any of there products again.
Logical purchase April 2, 2007 Henrique Magalhaes (Portugal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this MP3 player 2years ago and all i can say is i'm trully satisfied with it! It was very cheap in the first place and it had a great memory back than, nowadays i'm still using it and it still has enough memory to listen the musics i like. The interface is easy but some tomes slow reacting, the life batery is excelent and it has great sound quality. I hate the software that cames with it, i'm using the music match and now since it's upgraded to "Yahoo" it's just a litle better... You can't have everything, so if you're looking for good all rounder MP3 without spend too much in it, go for the Go Gear HDD70.
The worst mp3 out there... March 28, 2006 Mr. L. A. Williams (UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Do not get this mp3. I've had so many problems it isnt worth the money. For example: *It turns of by itself occasionally *It skips tracks ALL the time *It delets your saved radio station sets *It will fail to connect to your computer *It will be unrecognized by your computer (occasionally) Seriously, i could go on... Anyway whoever is considering this mp3, please be smart enough to learn from my awful, awful mistake. This is a must AVIOD AT ALL COSTS!!!
Brilliant MP3 Player - Apalling software March 26, 2006 R. Beasley (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good Points: Sound quality from the player is excellent; Has a built-in FM radio; It's barely any bigger than the hard disk drive inside the case; Easy to use menu driven interface allows you to select which tracks to play, whether to shuffle, repeat etc; Looks quite good with its magnesium casing (not flimsy plastic); Comes with useful lanyard and carry pouch with belt clip.Bad Points: The provided software (driver for the player and MusicMatch Jukebox is truly dire, keeps losing the connection and is very slow in use. HOWEVER, although some will say you can't use it with other software this is simply not true. dbPowerAMP works perfectly with this player. So, buy one of these, ignore the provided software (the CD makes a nice coaster for your desk) and download dbPowerAMP with iis drivers. You won't regret it.
