 Starts off well but then problems August 22, 2007

Got mine about 6 months ago and, at first, it was a great MP3 player, small, light, very good battery life although noticed the hard drive did make an off-putting "clicking" noise
After 5 months it packed-up with a hard drive failure although as under warranty I sent it back to the UK distributors - who then took 3 WEEKS to repair it.
Got it back, new hard drive, but now refuses point blank to talk to my PC although my nephews (identical make & model) does with no problems - so mine seems to be still faulty.
Not happy and will not buy one of these again - too much hassle when it goes wrong - which you would not expect after only 6 months.
VERY disappointed.

I am really pleased with my new MP3 player its smart, easy to use and the sound quality is excellent the headphones supplied with it though are a little crap but i had some decent old ones and the sound is even better. I recomend this player to anyone I can't see how anyone could have problems with it

This unit is extremely well made and simple to use. The absence of any user installed software is definitely a bonus. It comes supplied with a USB cable, which is used to charge the unit, but this isn't much use if you're travelling. The optional universal power supply is therefore essential.
Good sound quality, simple operation and solid build make it a must have!

I am a great fan of mp3 players and other electronic gadgets, but i two things which seems to be a feature in most is 1; they never seem to have everything you want, if there is a new feature on one then another feature is sacrificed and 2; they always seem to go wrong!
Enough of my rant! What im trying to say is that this had everything i wanted and it has not gone wrong at all (which is quite unusual for Mp3 players) it is very simple to use, has very good features, hasnt sacrificed anything for more useless features, and looks really cool to!!! When you are buying an archos product you know you are buying quality!

I bought my Gmini to replace a 4GB iPod mini which had broken after only 18 months. I had various problems with the iPod - not least with the awful software you are required to use with it! The Gmini has no software requirements. You plug it in and copy mp3 folders to it using windows click and drag - no hassle at all. It holds about 400 songs which is more than adequate. The only problem I had was that I couldn't get a case to hold it at my belt, but a flip phone case soon sorted that. It's small, sleek, stylish, simplicity itself and I wouldn't swap it for an iPod if you paid me!
