Unreliable and expensive January 15, 2008 J. Okey I loved it when I bought it, and for about 6 months it was the best 200 I'd ever spent, but then it started to go wrong, the battery would give up the ghost after about 20 minutes of video playback and if I tried to put it on shuffle it would get to about the 4th song and pack up completely and have to be reset. I contacted apple and they told me to update the settings and restore it to its original factory setup (deleting everything I had on it, which was quite annoying). I then made do with it as all I really do is play it at work and in the car but two days ago it completely blew up, the screen died, it would no longer update (the file is corrupt and unreadable, apparantly), and it also erased my hard drive. If you buy an iPod you will love it for about a year, I guarantee you that but once the one year warranty has expired, things start to go wrong and you really wish you'd bought Japanese, can't go wrong with Sony. I'm now then 5th out of 7 of my friends who have iPods to have them collapse under the weight of a few songs. Don't waste your money.
Ipod 30GB Video December 2, 2007 Sarah Bailey (Bristol, England) My ipod was given to my Dad last Christmas but as he doesn't use it I now have it. I like the looks and the sound quality and Itunes is very easy to use. The ipod has barely been used but it keeps freezing which is very annoying and the battery life is really poor. I don't know if I have a dodgy one but I would only expect this kind of performance from a much older model. Apart from the obvious drawbacks I love having an ipod and it's very easy to use.
Great. September 19, 2007 Lauren E. Everington (wales) I had a nano but it was old and full, so i wanted the 30GB, although it is nowhere near full, +the video player is very good and i would advise people to download a youtube converting package (really good) - The battery wears down really quickly other players have much longer playing time, so for a long trip it would not be good to watch a film. over all the ipod is very goodr and i would recomentit to anyone!
Excellent while it lasts September 12, 2007 K. Walton (Cheshire) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love my ipod, its great when it works. Had the sense to take out a (very expensive) guarantee on it when I purchased it. Good job too. The first one failed after about 10 months - would only play certain tracks etc and it was instantly replaced (was told in the shop that this is a very common problem). The one I have now, just over 12 months old, is back to the repairers for the second time with battery related problems....Shame Apple can't invest as much time in making sure their products are relaible as they do in marketing them.
Think Twice! August 31, 2007 Badger 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
The hard drive failed on my 30gb video IPOD after 17 months. Apple told me it would be cheaper to buy a new IPOD than get Apple to repair it. The most expensive paperweight I have ever bought! Think twice before you buy one, electrical goods that cost this much should last for longer than 12-18 months.
