1 out of 5 stars Ipod mini - is better than I expected   June 28, 2006

The Ipod mini is easy to use, easy to carry in a pocket, sound is superb and the software has been thought through properly. Its a shame the battery only lasts four to five hours on a charge , but thats the price to pay for running a mini hard drive. I must admit that I thought the ipod was just an overpriced mp3 player until I got one , then I realised that its worth every penny. The four gig capacity sounds a lot until you fill it up, but then you just have to get into a sensible housekeeping routine and take off the songs that you never ever play. Connect it up to your home sound system and you will not want to bother looking for those CD's again, its so much simpler to find the albums and tracks on the ipod and just press play.

5 out of 5 stars Brill!   January 8, 2006

I know im Just a teenager but I am satisfied-I got my iPod mini for my birthday (april 2005) and I have to say I am pleased with this mp3! It is light, it fits about 1,000 songs and its got a calender and some games. It's easy to use and worth the money! Most people say that the battery doesn't last but I don't know what they do with it because mine lasted an 12hour journey(from belgium to carribean islands) and the iPod mini switched off when i had gotten to my room. That is brilliant! I take my iPod mini everywhere and it has lasted well! The only thing that is a bit dissapointing is that it does get scaratched quite easily and dented. Overall its the best music player I have owned so far! I recomend this if you love music and 1000 songs is enough for me! I don't see the point of apple making iPod's that are 60GB-who needs that much music? So think do you want a good mp3 player that fits all of your music...or do you want a cheap one that you have to make a choice of music? If you love music and you have a lot of it then an iPod mini would be a brilliant choice for you! Also you can add contacts-Name, address, phone number and you can make notes. I find this Little miracle a life saver!

5 out of 5 stars Battery Life   August 18, 2005

Hey, I am buying the Ipod Mini soon. I think the reason for the shorter battery life than other players is because others use PSS (Portable Solid State). This means there are no moving parts, meaning less battery requried. On the other hand, the Ipod Mini uses a Hard Drive, like the ones inside our computers. Which means there is an element of the player that requires a lot of power. The benefits of it being a physical hard drive is that there is the possibility of huge storage space, on the other hand, I have rarely (if ever), seen a PSS player with over 1GB.

Although I have yet to purchase, I have 2GB of music on my PC at the time, so the MINI has more than ample storage.

4 out of 5 stars iPod Mini 4GB Good Buy, But Has Some Negative Points   June 15, 2005

Ok, so i'm like you, wondering which iPod to buy? Should I go for the 20GB or something a bit smaller...

I decide on the 4GB iPod Mini Silver because of its convient size and 4GB is enough for most people, 20GB and above is just excessive. 1,000 songs is quite enough for me thank you!

Anywho the good points, as I mentioned above the size is amazing and its really light! I take it everywhere with me, and although a belt clip does come with the iPod mini, I would recommend purchasing the Belkin leather iPod case to avoid scratches on such a lovely investment.

The scroll wheel is amazing, you can control the sound and head onto any of your favourite songs just by moving your finger up and down the touch pad! Yes the iPod does come with games, but I don't really pay attention to those and I doubt anybody else would unless they were stuck on a desert island, they are pretty simple and un-exciting, but then again thats not what the iPod was designed for and is merely an extra.

iTunes is simple enough to use, I put around 380 tracks on my iPod mini in around 2-3 minutes.

Battery does not last 8 hours! It lasts 4-5 MAX. Thats not a problem for me as its quite enough, but it would be nice if apple wouldn't lie in their product description.

I recommend it guys, its stylish, it has the wow factor, amazing technology, high quality music at your finger tips! Go for it :)

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic - but 2 important faults:   March 29, 2005

The ipod mini is stylish, functional, easy to use and most importantly delivers perfect sound. I love its elegant dimensions, and find that 4GB is plenty for what i need.

My two gripes are as follows: Battery life sucks. About 4 hours of playback and its dead. That's pretty poor performance - and after a year or so you have to replace the battery entirely.

Second, very few of the cool peripherals apply to the mini, only to the full size. Be careful that the itrip, external battery pack, etc that you want can work with mini 'cause many can't.

I love this MP3 player, despite its faults, and after all 2343 million people cant be wrong.
