Product Description Why PCI Express? PCI Express is the new standard that will replace PCI. The new PCI Express interface effectively quadruples the amount of available computing bandwidth, resulting in faster music downloads, smoother streaming video, and lightning-fast access to mass-storage devices. The Belkin USB 2.0 5-Port PCI Express Card offers the perfect solution for users who want to add Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports to their computers. The Card is designed to take advantage of the additional bandwidth and features provided by the new PCI Express I/O interconnection standard. Now you can transfer files to the hard drive, download images from your camera, and scan images all at the same time-without worrying that your computer will freeze, crash, or slow down to a trickle. The PCI Express Card future-proofs your computer with technology so advanced that it exceeds the processing-speed capability of many devices currently on the market. Installing the PCI Express Card now will give you device-upgrade expansion room for many years to come.

Great May 8, 2008 C. Wells (London) Fitted in my mac pro, open up case, slot it into the top pci express slot, close case, attach mouse and other usb devices and it runs straight away, so easy.
Don't buy this for earlier Power PC Mac's March 22, 2008 Mark Tasker (UK) I read the review from Derick above and presumed the card would fit my G4 Power PC Mac, it doesn't and I didn't get a helpful Belkin experience. A call center out of the country, that was impossible to understand, ahhhhhhh.
brilliant card but hard to seat card in a mac pro express slot August 23, 2007 Derek Williams (Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have a quad processor Intel Mac Pro and noticed that Apple had the Belkin firewire/USB2 card on their site for 118 but nothing for all USB on a PCI express. I googled for cards that had all USB which is what I wanted as I didn't really need any more firewire slots and Belkin came up again, although the Belkin website didn't say it was Mac compatible. I called their tech support and the very helpful guy said it should work on a Mac without drivers, as is usually the case with Macs, so I bought it for one third of what the comparable card cost on the Apple site (cost 38 plus delivery). When I got it it came in one of those plastic packs you have to cut open with scissors (WHY do they do this?) however I managed to get it out but when I went to put it in the PCI Express slot, I discovered the card would not slot in far enough to enable the securing screw to be fixed without I felt injuring the card. I called tech support at Belkin, where their service is second to none, and the same guy who helped me choose the card answered the call. I ended up damaging the card by shaving it to allow it to sheet fully home, but Belkin replaced it when I explained that it probably would have gotten damaged anyway if I had screwed it in according to instructions. The replacement card was exactly the same as the one I damaged, however I have screwed it in lightly so as not to damage it and it is working very well. Happily the four devices that previously were hanging off on an external hub and having power supply problems even with power into the hub, are now all functioning perfectly. I'm not sure how this would go in a PC but in my Mac the functionality is 100 per cent. You certainly can't fault Belkin's customer service, it is excellent.
