I took the advice from the person below (Mr Ince) to go for the compatible 338 and 344 ink cartridges from the company called Advantage as he recond that they last three time longer than the hp originals.
I phoned my order though using their order hotline number as I dont like putting my credit card details online and spoke to a lovely chap who asked me what i used my printer for (photos,printing) I brought 2 black and 2 colour ink cartridges from them. I orderd two week ago on a Wednesday afternoon and all four cartridges were with me the very next morning Thursday (free post). I have only used one of the black cartridges so far, as I mainly only print black and white but it has lasted a lot longer than one of the hp blacks.
So from now on my trips down to pc world for more cartridges will be a thing of the past.

I am generally pleased with the HP 344 twinpack bundle. The colour is good and I get a reasonable quantity of prints per cartridge. Naturally, the tri-colour ink system isn't the most economical if you use any one colour particularly heavily... but the same is true of any other tri-colour system and was a known factor when I purchased my multifunction printer.
Online prices have proven significantly lower than instore prices, enabling me to purchase genuine HP cartridges which do not invalidate the warranty on my printers for the same/less money as compatibles/refurbs instore.
Please avoid the advice of the reviewer 'Mr Ince' who has been advertising a potentially dubious site, using the same wording over many reviews.
