This is more than adequate for propping up my textbooks. It won't keep the pages of a thick book open, but if the book can stay open on its own, it is possible to rest it on the stand. I like it that you can adjust the height -- a function my old stand didn't have. I'm giving this four stars instead of five because the angle adjuster at the back can't be secured. All in all, a good buy.

I found this more than adequate for books. At the moment I'm copying from a hard back with 1040 pages and don't have any problems. For the money...it does the job!

If you want a book holder, I don't recommend this one at all. Not sturdy enough for even the lightest paperback. OK for a few sheets of paper, as the clip doesn't open wide enough. Very cheap plastic.
