I've used these discs exclusively for 4 years or so, since first owning a DVD recorder, originally on an early Sony model, then on several Panasonic machines. The discs have always worked perfectly, apart from latterly on the Sony, when the machine began identifying both clean part used and brand new discs as "dirty" and spat them out. Simultaneously the Panasonics were still (and still are) working perfectly with these discs. As far as I am concerned I can thoroughly recommend them both for recording and longevity (to date). However, as noted by previous critics, the change to darker coloured writing surfaces (originally they were a more sensible pale blue) does sometimes lead to problems reading titles written even in black ink, especially in low light or reflected glare.
TDK Disks worked fine July 28, 2008 Viv (Devon, UK) I was quite happy with these and did not have any errors at all in my first 50. I have used all of these and have just ordered another 50. I am not sure why other customers had problems. Standalone DVD recorders can be tricky in what disks they will work with - I have to buy a specific type for ours. Personally, I would recommend these disks as they worked very well and are excellent value.
Do not work in Sony Vaio Optiarc Dual Layer DVD Burner June 7, 2008 S. Griffiths 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
What a bloody waste of time. No disc inserted. Drive spends 2 minutes attempting to work with these discs but fails. Though TDK were a top brand ?!? Rubbish. Waste of time and money.
Cannot see what is on the disk May 28, 2008 Technical and Artistic (Herts) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought a spindle of 50 last year and also find the dark blue surface very hard to read from. I wear glasses with a prism which does not help and I am so fed up trying to read what's on the discs under a strong light and also the surface reflects back in an unacceptable manner that I have decided to not use what are left and redo all my backups on decent discs. That means redoing at least 20 discs as I have a lot of digital photos to archive as well as the usual data backups. It is a pity because the discs are very good and not one coaster so perhaps if TDK are reading this they could consider changing the colour. The two stars is for the colour otherwise it would be five stars.
