 Doesn't work properly with Mac Mini September 17, 2008

This product does not work properly with a Mac Mini. You have to shut down the whole computer to make the peripherals turn off. If the computer simply goes into sleep mode, the intellipanel keeps waking the computer up again.
A shame, because this is a great idea, but I'm going to give mine away to someone who owns something other than a Mini. Amazon should make it clear that this "Desktop" product is not compatible with the Mini, as most people would class the mini as a desktop.

I bought one and I use it, it is well made and it works.
A slight disappointment was that I was planning on buying another to use with my other computer setup which is based on a thin client. However, that setup doesn't work, presumably because the power used by the Winterm is too low for the Intellipanel to see it as on.
Anyway, having used it for a while, it seems to me that simply leaning down and switching off the socket on the wall is not that difficult is it?
Why did I buy it? I think that I was just seduced by the idea and the novelty and wanted to reduce energy consumption for both obvious reasons.
In fact, you can save slightly more money than you will with this product without spending any money (or helping to cause the next power station to be built in China) by switching off at the socket when you finish your computing for the day.
If you can't reach your socket or leaning down is too much work then buy one of these by all means.

Whilst this product does what it says it will do, I do have a problem that I orginally hadn't thought of. I've used it to connect my TV, DVD recorder with Freeview, and home theatre system (HTS). The DVD recorder is plugged into the "always on" socket (otherwise it would mean having to retune it every time it was powered up). That's fine, however the HTS, which includes a CD player and radio, now cannot be used unless the TV is powered up, so if I want the radio on I have to turn the TV on which will no doubt be using more power when it's on than I will be saving when not in use or on standby. The only way around it is to plug the HTS into a seperate socket so I can turn it on independently, which kind of defeats the object and also probably means that any power surge through that socket would go through to everything else bypassing the Intellipanel, and on hindsight I might as well have left things as they were and simply switched off the TV and HTS at the socket every night. This will also hold true for anything else you plug into the panel - such as a lamp for example - it won't work unless you have the main item that is plugged into the panel powered up, so do think carefully before buying as I should have done.

Mine worked fine for three months right up to the point that everything except the server went off. The peripheral light is out and no restart works. I have even lost the bill!

Found that it worked for a while and then kept switching my main computer and the peripherals on and off every half an hour. Basically it couldn't cope with the sleep function on my computer. Very disappointing - now consigned to the bin. Tried to do my bit for global warning and ended up wasting money and resources on this!
