Lexmark Colour Laser Printer Network Ready, 22PPM Colour, 21PPM Mono, 10.5 Sec TTFP
I have owned a Lexmark C522 printer for nearly two years and I am about to scrap it. The main problem as far as home use is concerned is that the replacement toner cartriges cost around 75 each, and there are four of them. This would be OK if thay lasted for two or three years, but the fact is they exhaust themselves at an alarming rate! The second major problem is banding. Lines appear across your colour printouts and it is well nigh impossible to cure. My printer has spent more time beeping that ink is running out than it has printing decent output. A fast multi copy speed is not much help for home users. Time to first print is more important.
I am returning to an inkjet and my Lexmark is going to Freecycle.

This printer is large and very heavy, some of the bulk is due to the single pass method of printing but you do need a fair bit of space.
It has built in duplexing and an extra fold out tray for card and evelopes etc.
Pros.
The built in networking is a huge bonus and makes it ideal for a workgroup printer.
Print quality in black or colour is superb with near photograhic quality on plain paper.
In almost a year I have had no paper jams.
Build quality is fairly solid
Cons.
Not a very easy to understand driver.
Toner cartridges are only half full, a replacement set will set you back 320 BUT you can refill the cartridges using third party toner and chips which cuts the cost of toner by two thirds.
I have done this myself and the refills are excellent and relatively easy to do.
If you opt for the full energy saving mode it can take a couple of minutes to start printing.
Summation
A great printer that prints in black or colour at the same speed. Highly recommended. Great buy and cheap to run if you use refills.
