5 out of 5 stars Multi-function Network Inkjet Printer - This is it !   June 25, 2008

If you are looking for a reasonably priced multi-function network inkjet printer then look no further. This is it. Connected up in 15 minutes straight out of the box. (you need to provide your own ethernet cable) I think this may be a european model as the power cord had a continental connection plug. A standard PC power lead fits however. (I had a few kicking around)
All the paper instruction are in German or French, but the CD-ROM has stage by stage english instructions and the full manual in English.
Works great. Visible to all my network laptops and PC's. Photocopies (Colour ans B&W) even when not connected to the network. Not the smallest printer around, but solidly built and looks great. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous network inkjet   June 8, 2008

I was looking for a mainly business-based multifunction printer which would work on my wireless network at home, would be capable of printing occasional photos, would photocopy paperwork, and would not cost a fortune when it comes to replacing the ink.

I was quite intimidated by the thought of setting up a printer on my wireless network, but I need not have worried. I followed the instructions provided, plugged the 560CN into my Netgear wireless router and loaded the software provided by Brother. It worked perfectly first time. Not only does the pinter work with the desktop computer connected to the router by cable, it worked first time on another desktop connected wirelessly, and with my wireless laptop. Exactly what I wanted and with no hassle - a rare thing with software in my experience!

Early days for it yet, but so far I can say that the document print quality is very good, the document feeder works well and the quality of glossy photos is excellent. Best of all, it is very easy to use. You want a colour copy, press the colour copy button! You want a mono copy, press the mono button! The computer doesn't even need to be switched on. Having moved from a separate scanner and printer, this is bliss!

No printer manufacturer will recommend that use ink other than their own brand. Obviously the choice is yours, but at least there are a number of suppliers who will sell you a full set of cartridges for this machine for about 10 rather than 50 per set for many machines.

This model has no fax - I didn' need one - but if your printing needs are similar to mine, I'd thoroughly recommend this machine.

Well this was to replace a DELL all in one, which we got free from DELL as part of an order, the paper nevered fed properly from day one (You get what you pay for and as this was free, it was more trouble than it was worth). I printed around 45 sheets colour graphics and text and was please with the speed, a bit noiser than some. Colour photos also print well, there is a 4X6 photo tray, but you have to slide it forwards to use it, it is a shame they could not do it automatically, very easy to print from a camara card but not that much control if you want to colour adjust a photo prior to printing, it can be done but if you want your Mum to use it, then it I guess it will get printed in its raw state.

I tried an A4 heavy weight photo paper in the tray and unfortunately it does not feed, unlike the EPSON or HP and even the DELL which draws the paper from the top through the Brother pulls the paper round from underneather and the tightness around the drum at the back means if your paper does not bend easily it will not get round the drum, on saying that removal of jamed paper was a doddle. If you want to feed thick paper photo or otherwise do not buy this machine. I have the luxury of choice. Scanning, if your used to puting say 3 or 4 items say photos for scanning and the softwqare recognises each seperate image then this scanner falls a bit short on software, but the scanning quality is very good. I have not used the auto feeder yet for the scanner so cannot comment. Build quality and the little colour screen are very pleasing and it feels a solid well built bit of kit, ink cartridges are also a doddle, I cannot comment yet on the quatity of ink used per job or if it cleans its self accessivelty, if it does it is very quiet. Finaly set up was pritty good, I had problems with one laptop over the network which had asigned the wrong port address but was quick to fix, the other laptops all fell into line with first install and the print monitor works well.
