Does the job May 29, 2008 I. Osborne 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted just a general purpose ink jet to perform infrequent printing. Fits my needs since I dont expect a budget multifunction machine to print 1000's of full colour photos on a single set of cartridges. Ink jets use ink, live with it. In 18 months, I'm on my second set of cartridges nad the device works as required, not too noisy and I love the fact I can use it as a photocopier and the card reader comes in very handy too.
Complete waste of money April 1, 2008 Whitespaces (North West, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have to say that when I read reviews it always winds me up when there are obviously finicky people reviewing them that like to moan about everything. However I have to say - I'm not usually one to moan but this printer has been a complete drain on financies AND caused no end of frustration. For starters I'm a computer programmer - so I know about computers so it's not that I've set it up incorrectly... Maybe I've just been unlucky and got a bad model but this printer is the worst bit of kit I have ever owned. For starters we had the printer for 3 days and printed around 10 photos before the cartridges ran out - practically every time you print something you can see the levels diminish. This obviously seemed like a faulty printer to me so we took it back, they gave us a new set of free cartridges bless them and explained that sometimes the printer needs to warm up with ink for first time... These lasted a little longer - in fact I think we got around 14 sheets of A4 out of them this time - not bad for 24 hmmm. There's so many things wrong with this printer I don't know where to begin, my advise is get a half decent mono laser printer for printing letters and basic stuff from the internet, and if you want to print photos go to asda, or local shop etc. as the quality is a million times better than this epson and also it's far far cheaper, and you won't end up wanting to kill someone after using it. It's the first printer I've owned from dot matrix days so thought they'd have moved on a bit, oh no. It's like Microsoft in that they've added loads of fancy buttons and a nice screen when the underlying basic requirement of being able to print easily and cheapily has been forgotten. Absolutely rubbish.

i do not know what all the wingeing is about i have had this printer for 8 months yes it does use ink but compared to the lexmark it does not use as much, basicly you get what you pay for i bought this as a basic printer scanner and thats what i got can't fault it for what i payed If you want more from a printer then pay the price and stop whingeing.
Another winner from Epson! September 24, 2007 Mr. R. V. Malin (Warwickshire, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If all you need is an easy to operate printer/scanner/colour copier, then look no further than Epson's excellent DX6000. There may be better printers, faster scanners and more accurate photo-copiers on the market, but I defy you to find a better one for around 60! I can also confirm that Epson are one of the few machines that take compatible cartridges (around half to two thirds of the price of the genuine article) and the use of these won't necesarily invalidate the warranty. I have owned many Epson printers and all-in-ones, both at home, at work and in the church office - all have given excellent service. Oh, and when they go wrong, as they do eventually after severe use, you just bin the thing, log onto Amazon, and order a new one! An excellent product - highly recommended!
beware ink costs September 21, 2007 J. Banham (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A very good Printer, Scanner which was bought to replace a stylus880.There has been some problems with only half the page being printed, but this could be lived with. However, the cost of replacement ink has been so great that I am thinking of getting a more economical machine. The scam of being able to replace one cartridge is total false economy. The recharging system will invariably cause another colour to need replacing, which will then drain another colour, and so on until the first cartridge is once again empty. I have got to the stage of replacing all the cartridges if any one is empty. This costs too much for anybody who does a reasonable amount of colour printing. I would not buy this printer again or recommend it to anybody purely on this point.
