Lack of on/off switch the only drawback! November 21, 2008 Mr. Kevin Lunn (Cheshire, UK) I've been using this router for around two months now with no problems at all. Set up was easy, range (on draft n) is excellent and the unit has a great design with no aerials sticking up in the air. My only criticism is that the unit does not have a mains on/off switch and so you have to unplug it to switch it off. It also gets quite hot underneath! Other than those small gripes - a great router.
Not the best router out there... October 19, 2008 S. Wright (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this router about 6 weeks ago to replace a fairly reliable, although much older Linksys router. Whilst it is very simple to set up and looks good (a rare thing with routers!), I have suffered similar problems to others who have reviewed this - it will lose the wireless signal every so often, requiring it to be turned off, then on again. Perhaps there has been a bad batch of these as other reviewers seem to have not had any problems, but personally, I would think twice before buying one of these.
A great router, simple to use yet highly configurable. October 18, 2008 John Nunn (Coventry, U.K.) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
After having used a number of different ADSL routers over the past few years, I decided to try this model because of the reliability of CISCO in the comercial world. I was not willing to spend several hundred pounds on a cisco model but Linksys are CISCO's consumer brand. I have been very happy with the performance and reliability of this device. The configuration is simple and powerful with very precise control over firewall rules. The wireless settings are versitle and allow for a large number of devices to connect. I have had no problems connecting several laptops and smart devices to this router despite some of the devices being fairly old.
Unreliable October 14, 2008 Tom (Oxford, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had this router for a couple of months now and had problems from day one. It works for about 24 hours at a time before needing to be switched off and on again. The problems are with file sharing between computers connected to the router. I'm not alone in this, Linksys' own Support Forum is full of disgruntled users -- see for yourself! I'm sure all it would take is a firmware update to fix the problems, but I've waited long enough. As it stands this router just doesn't cut it.
Buyer Beware October 13, 2008 Nullifidian (Sydney, Australia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Buyer beware. This equipment is probably very similar to the WAG160N, which does not work properly. I bought the WAG160N so I could connect a new laptop by wireless. Needing a VoIP phone adapter to work with the modem I called Linksys to ask what I should do. They recommended a Linksys PAP2T adapter which I also bought. 1. The wireless internet connection fails frequently and constantly needs rebooting. I might just as well sit at the wired desktop. 2. The VoIP adapter normally does not work. Linksys tell me there is a known problem between the PAP2T and the WAG160N. It's sad that they didn't tell me this when I asked what to buy. 3. The WAG160N falls over every time I launch my P2P torrent program. Within two minutes the internet fails followed by the DSL line. It has never worked properly. Apparently this is also a known issue with this equipment. I have spent many hours with Linksys help trying to fix these issues, including firmware upgrades and much stuffing around. I have reached the point where I simply want my money back so I can buy other equipment that works. I'm still waiting.....
