Good, could be better April 16, 2008 Paul Westerman (West Sussex) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For me, this is a great gadget because it saves space and I can try out musical ideas without having to set up my big keyboard, which I have to stow away due to space restrictions. However, please note there ARE NOT and WILL NOT BE any Vista drivers for this unit - I've had this from Creative themselves, as far as they're concerned this is no longer a current product. On the web forums I have read that some people have got it working on Vista using XP drivers; I've had no luck with this so far. Under XP though it's fine: Good points: Nice looking unit, works well, works as a MIDI keyboard in 'pro' music applications (Cubase etc.), velocity sensitive keys, octave shift buttons. Bad points: PC keyboard has short-travel keys rather like a laptop but they are well spaced and you get used to them quickly. The music keys are awful - very spongy and like a toy keyboard. It works well enough for trying stuff out but you won't be playing any Bach on it. The software is basic but works OK. Sadly it seems that Creative have dropped this product; perhaps it didn't sell very well. Let's hope they reconsider and keep developing the idea - and its drivers.
Does what it says on the tin but NOT IN VISTA November 28, 2007 Penfold (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
If you simply want a combined QWERTY/Music keyboard then this is fine. However, there are no Vista drivers for this device. Despite being assured by a reseller that drivers were on the way I can now only conclude that Creative have given up trying to make any of their gear work properly with Vista (I also have a totally buggy driver for my sound card, thanks a lot, Creative). Having been a big fan I will now never buy or recommend Creative kit to anyone again. Just scan the web for "creative" and "vista" and you'll soon see why... In XP, however, there are no such problems. You will proabably not need to use any of the supplied software after about 10 minutes of playing around. Thereafter you can get on with playing notes into Sibelius or Finale or whatever it is you actually bought the thing for!
