1 out of 5 stars Saicrap Eclipse II   May 31, 2008
T. Pelekanis (England)
I'm not going to tell you everything about this keyboard as the other reviews have cleared some of it, I'm using Belkin KVM switch 2 DVI , it switches between 2 pc's using one monitor , keyboard, mouse, etc.. now after installing the kvm I found out the saitek 2 takes about 10-25 seconds for it to initialize on the other pc and same when i switch it back when i switch between 2 pc's i need for it to be instant like the monitor is, this keyboard sometimes doesn't detect properly in my windows xp,

some people may not get this issue as drivers for motherboards and usb are different for each pc, my pc could just be a bit fickle but the kvm doesn't lie as it works alright with a less power hungry usb keyboard so im afraid i have no choice but to give this keyboard a low 1 only good for 1 pc and to be honest the keys on the Saitek Eclipse 2 are a little on the shiny side i really prefer them dry and soft, and the lights on it whoever said its just a gimmick is right and its pointless if its not done right.

4 out of 5 stars Decent keyboard.   May 24, 2008

Why does Amazon's system think this keyboard is a game? 'How much fun is this game?' it asks!

Anyway, the backlight looks nice in the dark, and does have genuine practical value if you are the type to compute in a darkened room. Good for Doom3 at least.

Build quality is good, but nothing to get wildly excited about given the cost. I can't for the life of me get the media keys to do anything.

Personally think its a bit cheapskate to make the function and escape keys half size on a keyboard of this cost, but that seems to be very common these days.

Apart from the backlight the only other particular plus point is that the keyboard doesn't take up excessive amounts of desk space, given that its a full size keyboard. The likes of the G11 and the saitek cyborg seem excessively huge in comparison.

Edit - for benefit of anyone having similar problems, have now managed to get the media keys to work. Seems a previous uninstall program had removed relevant windows dlls from the system folder, had to restore them from windows disk. Unfortunately can't remember now what all the files were, but one was kbdhid.sys and another was hidserv.dll. The aim is to get human interface device access service up and running (Or HID input service, opinions seem to vary on the terminology)

5 out of 5 stars 100% Work It   January 18, 2008

First off, hats off too the amazon delivery service, came perfectly on time for christmas. And after using it extensivly for about...3 weeks now, it hasnt dissapointed once. Media keys come in handy when changing songs, espesialy when in playing games (saves having too minimize your game, and risking crashing the program). The wrist reast is lovely, my old dell 5 key board made my wrists acke. Lights are pritty, most keys are lit up. The lights on the side alos add a loverly affect.

In conclusion, this keyboard is worth every penny, very relaxing to use, dost put strain on your wrists and i would recommend it anyone (not just for gamers)

2 out of 5 stars Nice initially, but then it wears off...literally!   December 29, 2007

Had this keyboard now just less than a year. I have to say it hasnt really helped my gaming or my typing. Why? Well as someone else pointed out the keys do feel much closer together and if you are what I would call a fast but 'non pro' typist your error rate will go through the roof. I often find myself typing other ajacent letters which is annoying.
The other major problem I have is that as I dont bite my fingernails, I am slowly wearing out the keytops. Already the letters are dissapearing from the L,N,M and K keytops. No I don't have long fingernails.
So its shame this otherwise well built keyboard will probably have to be thrown out within the next year due to it looking a total mess. I usually kept my previous 10 a time Cherry keyboards for 3-4 years each. I shall probably go back to them.

4 out of 5 stars brilliant but there are issues!   December 18, 2007

this keyboard will cause games to run slowly such as kane and lynch dead men .... my comuter can run crysis bioshock world in conflict all on max graphics but with this keyboard plugged in it causes it to lag every 3 secounds .... which can be a little bit tedious .... but then again lets face it that game is awkward and frustrating any way in terms of on-line play ... well i should say online pay ..... in any case other than that its brilliant its silent its "snazzy" its ... what every night gamer should want ... well that and a lifetime supply of redbull...
