Product Description The stow-away MP3 cradle makes the Logitech X-240 loudspeakers more than just a great speaker system for your computer. Connect your digital audio player using the included auxiliary cable, or use your own USB/power cable to synchronise your iPod and play the music stored on it, as well as charge up the player's battery, or play digital music from your mobile phone. Dynamic, real-time bass equalisation maximises bass response from the subwoofer, while high-excursion drivers provide rich sound from the slim, stylish satellite speakers. Turn your computer into a high-performance audio system with the X-240.

Rubbish June 16, 2008 A. S. Uppal (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This system is rubbish, the sound is awful. The bass is tinny, no power whatsoever. When you turn the volume up the bass is so distorted and no beef behind it whatsoever. From my speakers I was looking for a normal good sound, nice full bass so I could listen to songs on my pc. What I got was a shoddy system that doesnt sound better than just 2 satellites alone. In the end I returned this and opted for the Z-4 Logitech. Let me tell you that the Z-4 is light yrs ahead of the x-240, it has proper full bass and beautiful hi fi quality sound. My advice is spend the extra few pounds and get the Z-4 if youre looking for quality sound. I wouldnt pay a fiver for the X-240.
Great Sound May 23, 2008 Monty (UK) I received a set of these as a gift and they look and feel fantastic, I cannot believe the build quality of the speakers for the price. I mainly use these for playing music from my PC or iPod and the sound even at high volume is brilliant. My only gripe is the iPod shelf, as per the previous reviewer this is best forgotten but that should not put you off buying a set of these. I have even recommended these to friends.
very good April 25, 2008 D. Mcdermott (Ireland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using these speakers for about six weeks now having bought them without really planning to, but my old Harmon Kardon's were on their last legs and I saw these at a good price. I've been really happy with their performance, so was very surprised when I clicked in here and saw only one previous review - and a one-star review at that! Well each to their own I suppose... I bought these primarily for use with DVDs, though I listen to a lot of music on them too. The subwoofer is terrific, really powerful and gives a depth to the film watching experience that my old speakers couldn't provide, good as they were. I've seen from reviews of the X-230 that turning the subwoofer's volume down all the way does not completely cut out the sound, that has been rectified here, the sound cuts out from the subwoofer once its volume control is turned down all the way on the X-240. Sound from the satellites is very clear too giving an all-round sound that I've been extremely pleased with. As far as music goes I've had no significant problems while using the speakers with a wide range (at least I think so) of music, from Brian Eno to Mozart to Radiohead to Rage Against The Machine, it's all come out crisp and clear. Obviously different types of music will need differing levels of bass, but that's what the volume control on the subwoofer is there for... There is of course some loss in the mid-range, but nothing that would have most people tearing their hair out, and this is par for the course on 2.1 speakers and particularly in this price range. If you are thinking of buying a set of budget speakers mainly to listen to music I would imagine you're better off forgetting about a subwoofer and going for the Creative T20 or T40. Also, like a lot of speakers they sound much better after being broken in. The sound out of the box was quite decent, but improved noticeably after a couple of days of fairly heavy use. There may well be better speakers out there at this price, I don't know because I haven't tried any others, all I can say is I have been very happy with the X-240. Oh and the so-called 'stow-away cradle' for your MP3 player is utter rubbish and went straight where all rubbish should go, the bin. But the speakers are still good.
A very poor Logitech speaker February 29, 2008 Artic Monkey (UK) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
Firstly I'd like to say I wished I bought these from Amazon as they are a lot cheaper than a certain catalogue I'm bought them from. That was the first of my very bad decisions.....Buying these at all was the second bad decision and by far the worst decision! These speakers are awful - the sound quality is lacklustre - the bass has the tendency to vibrate and overpower the high frequencies on the satellites. I tried them on several different types of music and it made no difference. Very disappointing. The MP3 docking station pictured here is a joke - its basically just a plastic MP3 shelf...!! I returned these 24 hours later and got a refund and bought the Creative T3100 set instead (see my review on Amazon). They are miles better, sound fantastic and I gave them 5 stars . Buy those and steer well clear of these.
