Surprisingly tough and long lasting August 22, 2008 Mr. K. Watson (Co. Antrim, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this external hard drive for about a year and its been absolutely fine, with no hardware problems. Its even took its fair share of getting knocked around! Although I would maybe recommend something with more Gigabytes if you are into movies or the like, 120Gb is rather small if this is the case...
Does what it says on the tin August 20, 2008 D. McDonald-Lee 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Plugged it in to my XP and was recognised straight away. Quick transfers for files, took about 10 minutes to transfer over 5gig for me. Very useful for any type of student who needs something more substantial than just a USB.
Does exactly what I want it to. August 17, 2008 I. T. Waugh (Cheshire UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
All I wanted was a cheap, easy to use backup for the files on my 2 hard drives in the PC. This does just that. Didn't need to reformat it, I use it as FAT32 just like my existing drives. Use Windows explorer to move stuff onto it. Or just use it as a hard drive from any application. It's that simple. No drivers needed, no install procedure, and it's small and light, and yes, very quiet! (If you put your ear next to it while it's being accessed, you can hear faint noises.) As it says, there's no fan, but there are cooling holes on the back and underneath. The back panel, like the front one, has a clear plastic protector on it for transport, so remove these before use, or the rear holes are blocked. It wasn't an issue, but in prolonged use, maybe it could be. Within an hour of opening it, I'd got it about 1/3rd full! So, why buy a small capacity HDD? Well, why backup all your stuff onto a big one, say 500GB, only to have it maybe fail in the future? 2 or 3 small ones ensure you won't lose everything!
May need an extra power cable from Freecom August 14, 2008 Nike (Devon) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this drive for its reviews, but saw no reference to the necessity of a power cable needed for some systems, which is an extra 15 plus from Freecom including postage. Be warned.
Really good May 19, 2008 dkwil (Chesterfield, Derbyshire United Kingdom) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Very good piece of equipment, pity it came formatted in FAT32, had to spend some time converting it to NFTS, but that was all, now just drag and drop
