Fantastic sound... but February 17, 2008 K. Alkuwaity (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These speakrs deliver really amazing sound and the bass is excellent. However, when nothing is playing, there is this annoying hmmm sound (as mentioned in a couple of other reviews). Troubeleshooting in the manual doesn't solve the problem. In conclusion, great sound when music is playing, but a bit annoying when nothing is playing.
They make great door stops... January 23, 2008 PAO 1807 (England) I love Sony - I have a Sony TV, a Sony R1 camera which is like a right arm and a VAIO laptop which is pure gorgeousness... So when I wound up living in Japan for one year, I bought the Japanese voltage [100v] equivalent of these speakers and they were utter rubbish. *SRS A206 is for Japan SRS A205 is for UK - same spec just diff mains input. What utter disappointment - if only my Japanese were better I would have returned them for a refund! These speakers are plasticky, with rough mould lines, no weight / substance or quality about them... As for the sound, they couldn't even handle a basic piano solo without cracking up, much less a bit of Boards of Canada with long mellow keyboard bass. I would add, that the old yellow/grey [orig white]non-descript PC speakers I rescued from next door's rubbish pile a couple of years ago worked like a dream and handled all tones and volumes I could throw at them - If a speaker can handle Barber's Adagio and Throbbing Gristle's Still Walking without so much as a shrug then thats damned good. The scrapheap speakers could, the Sony speakers sounded like breakfast cereal. Now I'm back in the UK I'm going th buy the Creative Gigaworks T10 speakers instead of Sony, as they get an excellent review all round on Amazon. If you learn just one thing from this review, let it be DO NOT SONY LAPTOP SPEAKERS.
excellent speakers January 19, 2008 M. J. Swift (Lancashire, United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had these speakers for 18 months now and I think they are brilliant. I am pleased with the sound quality, so much so that I am about to buy a second pair as a gift for a family member. I have not had any problems with them whatsoever.
Absolutely great December 6, 2007 Mr. Dt Weeks 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've actually had these speakers for a couple of years now, and they are fantastic. Bass response is excellent compared to most similar sized units. I've not had any problem with "hum" - try unplugging your cable from the pc, as I honestly believe it will be ground lift hum from your computer - my laptop suffers from this. If the hum disappears when you disconnect from the computer, its the pc at fault. But yeah, absolutely fab speakers. Nice and loud, nice tone, and easily accessible headphones.
perfect! March 5, 2007 jimmyreviewer1988 (england) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
hi, i bought these speakers before christmas, they are brilliant, and work perfectly. they make a slight humming noise but apart from that they go well with my laptop. the only irritation is they fall over reasily lol!
