Too much Bass. December 28, 2006 Connor J. Hobson (Manchester, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree with the last reviewer that there is far too much bass, the speakers are really clear sound though and the bass can be nice but there are key things missing. Headphone Socket, There is none! A way to turn off the subwoofer, would nice nice if the speakers could be controlled seperatly from the sub and vice verser. Overall: I wish I'd just spent a bit extra on a better 2.1 system, The subwoofer is not producing sound for the left audio channel so I will have to be sending the speakers back too.
great sound but bass too loud July 28, 2005 anibani (Cambridgeshire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read good reviews of these speakers from the US Amazon site, so I purchased them here. They are priced well, easy to set up, produce clear sound even at loud volumes. The wired remote control (power switch and volume dial) is really convenient, too. Unfortunately, there is no separate bass control (just volume control) and the subwoofer totally overpowers the satellites. This might be useful for gaming, but for music listening, you will not get the same balance of sound that you would with just headphones or from most speakers. The bass is just too strong, even with the subwoofer under a table. Adjusting equalizer in my mp3 software only helped partly. The best solution was to enclose the subwoofer in a thick styrofoam box, now I get just the right amount of bass. So unless you already have a styrofoam box handy (or Creative is willing to provide all units with one), I suggest you look elsewhere, maybe the Creative Inspire 2400 which has separate volume and bass controls. Overall, I give it three stars for the clear sound quality, these are still very good speakers for the price.
