Super, Smashing, Great...! August 12, 2008 Mr. G. R. Davies I have been searching for a decent ipod speaker for some time reading loads of reviews and at the end of the day, I know its down to your own ears. I wanted something especially for traveling / holidays, something thats lightweight and portable and preferably mains powered, as you well know batteries go in no time. I took the gamble and bought the JBL On Stage 2, when it arrived I was surprised at the size, given theres a micro version, the 2 is small, ( about 17cm) and lightweight and portable, that bit sorted then. So the most important thing, the sound .....right. This is a little gem, the sound is crisp and clear, through a whole range of music styles, ok, its a little lightweight on the bass, but with a fiddle of the EQ on the pod, this was improved, not totally brill, but better. The volume is way better than expected, it is loud enough for a med to large room on full tilt, and bang on for the BBQ get togethers ( English weather permitting). This system is not for those with a discerning ear for perfection, theres bigger and better for that purpose, but this is perfect for holidays/ travel, and or bedroom. Youll be surprised at the quality of sound. Minuses then, Theres a little remote, with a silly clip, why they put that on I dont know, suppose its so you dont lose it, anyway its basic but ok. The AC mains adapter, come on JBL what an earth were you thinking, everything you make is stylish, portable, lightweight. But sadly not on this occasion, Its the heaviest thing about this system. I have awarded it 4 stars, marked down for the plug, remote and sorry Amazon, the price, its cheaper on another site.. ( 49 Tesco.com). Well chuffed. GD
very good February 28, 2008 M. Buck (Fleet, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this for my sister for her birthday but was a little worried about the sound quality from such small speakers, i needn't of worried. My sister texted me to say the sound was great so when i visited i thought i'd have look, she wasn't lying, it is brilliant and loud! alot louder than you would expect! Some people have commented on the bass, but what I heard gave me no cause for comment, if you like Drum and Bass music then i'm sure it won't be good enough, but for normal chart/pop music the bass was fine. Its neat, fitted my sister's 3G nano without any problems. I'm now brother of the month! Only thing, its 49.99 at tesco's in store and online, so get them there!
Fantastic Device January 23, 2008 D. Wojtowicz (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Fantastic Device I must say I bought two of these now, and they are absolutely worth every penny. Is amazing how much sound this little device can produce. Definitely recommend it as IPod docking station or as speakers for laptop or PC. Or both pc and IPod ;-)
Great value for money December 31, 2007 M. Harrison (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the perfect sound dock for your iPod if you want something compact, sub 100, and yet able to fill a room with good quality sound. I have my iPod docked to my Hi-Fi in the living room, and use the JBL for the kitchen. Inevitably when I first move through from the Hi-Fi to the JBL I am aware of the step down in quality - but that is inevitable. It is nonetheless remarkable how the JBL fills the kitchen - which is a good sized room - without straining. It has a full rich sound considering its small scale, and loads of power. It copes well with all kinds of music - even with the dynamic range of classical. It struggles a little with very heavy base on contemporary music - there can be moments of distortion at higher volumes (but in an acceptable range in my opinion). I would recommend it. One footnote: do take care to buy the right one for the UK - with UK plug fitted. I initially bought one in New York, where I had bought previous portable iPod speakers. Those had come with an adapter for the UK. The JBL didnt - so it was useless. But my present one came from Amazon.co.uk and duly arrived with its UK plug.
Packs a punch! October 29, 2007 T. Balsom (UK) Recently bought this, its small, easy to use and punps out the sounds. What more do you need to know? Perfect travel companion.
