5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Design   July 6, 2008

Nothing but praise for this mouse. Excellent handling; off switch; very small radio receiver for laptop socket or accompanying 'desktop extension stand'; receiver can be stored in compartment below mouse, switching batteries off at same time. Numerous functions modifiable by software.

5 out of 5 stars High technology product at affordable pricing..great experience   July 3, 2008
Mr. Rahul Bhandari
I always trusted logitech for their cutting edge innovation coming out of thorough research and testing phases. This product has exceeded my expectations and would regard as an item very well valued towards its RRP. Recommended for creative, throughtful, ease oriented and technological minded individuals. Exemplifying product and one of the top of its range.

4 out of 5 stars great notebook mouse   July 2, 2008
Mr. Tadeusz Gorniak (UK)
It is my second mouse from Logitech. I also own G7 which is a game mouse. On the begging it was a little difficult to me to use, as my G7 is a big mouse and fits in my hand perfectly, but after a few days of using I used to it. Well designed, great, smallest receiver on the market. Although if you are kind of a user which likes to hold mouse by all hand and operate it moving your arm you will be disappointed as this mouse you hold only by fingers and operate moving rather wrist than hand. And one more thing which i love about it's a small pouch to carry your mouse whenever you are going.

5 out of 5 stars Best mouse I've ever used, hands down (haha)   June 19, 2008

The Logitech VX Nano is a lovely piece of kit. Design wise it looks stunning with a mix of black and charcoal grey plastics and textured grip sections down the sides. There's a small green LED on the top to indicate communication with the receiver.

Because Bluetooth mice can experience problems with noise from wireless networks and other Bluetooth devices, Logitech has opted to provide a neat little RF receiver with this mouse, using a proprietary 2.4GHz signal. This isn't quite as neat as the 'no receiver' design of Bluetooth equivalents, but Logitech have compensated for this... The receiver is where the 'nano' in the name comes from - it really is tiny - only a few millimetres longer than the USB connector itself and so small you probably won't have to remove it from your laptop when packing it away. Despite the diminutive size, it works perfectly - there's no skipping or lag that I could notice even when using the mouse from the other side of the room. This mouse is plug and play - at least it is with Windows XP, Vista and MacOSX, which are all that I've tried it with. You needn't bother installing the software unless you want to customise the buttons. This makes it a good option if you frequently use other people's workstations or your company's IT policy means you can't install any software.

If you do remove it, the receiver is so small that you might lose it if it weren't for the fact that you can slot it into a small port inside the base of the mouse next to the batteries. When slotted in there, the mouse is automatically turned off. Just push the red eject button to remove the receiver again, another nice touch which is evidence of the thought that's been put into its design. You can turn the mouse on or off manually too, using a push button on the bottom. There's a small green LED next to the power button to indicate whether it's switched on.

This mouse is a perfect size for me - small enough to bother carrying in a laptop bag yet big enough to comfortably use all day. Talking of carrying, it comes with a smart little black pouch to protect it from bumps and scratches in the bottom of a bag or briefcase. For those who want to use this mouse on their desktop (I certainly do!) Logitech have thoughtfully provided a neat little desktop USB extension stand thingey, for PCs which only have USB ports on the back. This means you only have to fiddle around behind your desktop box once and can quickly unplug and take the receiver with you (in the mouse) whenever you want to switch to your laptop.

Size-wise, the mouse is too small to rest your whole palm on it, so some people with larger hands who prefer resting their palm on the mouse might want to look at the larger VX Revolution or even a desktop equivalent. I personally like to rest the heel of my hand on the desk and move the mouse with my fingertips - and it's the perfect size and shape for this.
This mouse is symmetrical so left handers needn't worry.

From reading reviews online, my biggest worry before purchase was whether I would get on without being able to click the scroll wheel. This is a standard feature on mice these days and I use the middle-click all the time in Firefox to open and close links in new tabs. With the VX Nano, you can click the middle wheel if you press very firmly, but this is just a mechanical click to switch between the two scroll modes - the standard 'click scroll' or 'frictionless' modes. This is the killer feature of the mouse, in my opinion: if you ever deal with huge spreadsheets or long PDF documents, you will be absolutely smitten with this mouse, I promise! In frictionless mode, you just flick the solid-feeling, rubberised metalic wheel with your finger and documents scroll faster than you would believe. With a bit of practice, you can scroll to exactly the page you want in a 250 page PDF with only a couple of gentle flicks of the fingertip. You really do need to try it to believe how useful this feature is.
The middle-click problem is easily solved: there's a search button just behind the scroll wheel which works as a middle click by default if you don't install the software. I suppose it's not quite as convenient as clicking a scroll wheel, but it's easy to reach and I've quickly got used to it this way. There are also forward and back buttons just to the left of the main left button, which again work perfectly fine in Firefox without installing any of the software.

Accuracy-wise, the mouse is more than adequate for my uses. I'm not a gamer so don't require a zillion DPI accuracy, but this laser mouse is certainly much more accurate than any standard optical mouse I've used.

My only slight criticism - and I had to think hard to come up with one - would be that the (admittedly very pretty) packaging was a bit over the top: lots of cleverly folded and wrapped layers of glossy card and plastic obviously designed to give a 'wow' factor during unpacking, but for me I like to keep it simple. On the plus side, all of the moulded plastic bits are perforated so you can easily tear them to reach your new gadget - this should be law for all plastic packaging, in my opinion.
The included Duracells are a nice touch - no cheapo zinc oxide batteries here! I should state I have only used this mouse for a few weeks so can't comment on the battery life... but the features and comfort of this model mean that I'd be happy to buy a few pairs of AAA Duracells every year. I can thoroughly recommend this mouse to anyone looking to get a top of the range wireless laptop mouse that travels well and is also great for use with desktops.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect isn't good enough.   June 14, 2008

I've had this mouse for about a week now. I use it everyday for far too long, when I first got it I just sat and played, clicking things just because it is so accurate.

Size wise it is the perfect companion for a laptop, whether it be for work on the move or just to look stunning next to it. It is not too small and not big. The buttons are great, the addition of the forward and back buttons next to the left mouse button are great and really do improve browsing. Several seconds are saved in moving the mouse to the back button, its great.

The scroll is also great, yet hard to describe. You can click it all the way in and it changes to a sort of clicky scroll where by every movement is stiffer and clicks around. OR you can click it in again and the scroll wheel just moves freely. It spins round with no clicks, just one touch and its off. Personally I like the free spin way as I can just spin it round and play with it when I'm doing something, it makes great fun for those who constantly have to be fiddling! Ohh yes and its 4 way, Ive never had a 4 way scroll before, but for the internet pages that need it or documents, maps etc it is great. As the scroll wheel isn't a button, there is one just above it, personally I think this is better than clicking in the scroll wheel. The chrome affect on the side also makes it look schnazzy.

The bits of rubber on the side are really comfortable too.

The USB wireless adapter is great too, it really looks flush. As a surprise in the box, for desktops it also comes with an extension. Which I imagine would be good for people who have their tower on the floor and dont want to risk losing connection with their mouse.

The case looks real good, I really would not be ashamed to pull this piece of kit out in front of my friends or anyone to be honest.

NO PROBLEMS WITH VISTA. I just plugged in the adapter and hoped for the best, as an 18 year old lad instructions dont get used. The drivers were found immediately and it works beautifully.

For reviewing purposes I just took the nano adapter out of my laptop, clicked the battery case off, it has a slide button and it just pops off, slipped the adapter in the hole next to the 2 Duracell batteries (which come supplied). To take the adapter out there is a very clear red eject button to press and it springs out, much like a memory card in a camera, memory card slot etc. Don't worry the red button is under the battery cover and is not visible if the mouse for some reason is found upside down! There is also a standby button on the bottom if you want to put it on standby yourself, the mouse does go off if left, and it turns on again when you move it.

Its uber precise, and I love it.

I don't think there is much more to say, thanks for taking your time to read this (long winded) review. To close I'd just like to say I really recommend this mouse, it is worth every penny, it looks great its moves great, its a perfect size, don't waste time with any other mouse this is all you will ever need.
