Media Remote version - excellent allrounder September 19, 2006 Maijay4 (Surrey UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Keyboard: Uses low profile soft click keys that are very responsive and works nicely for long periods of use. On the left is an LED that lets you know the batteries are ok (6 months +), when it flashes you have a further 10 days to replace batteries. There is also a sleep/suspend button, a user programmable button, and a rotate photo, zoom +/- rocker which seems to effect most things which is rather neat, and a 100% size button. On the right is a Music symbol key that brings up the Medialife multimedia software, Play-Pause/Stop/Jump Forward/Jump back buttons, Music shuffle, volume +/- rocker and mute. The Functiom keys are also programmable keys via a Toggle key next to F12. By default F2,F3,F4 will run your W/P, Spreadsheet, Presentation software. A rather neat programmable feature is the ability to create your own menus which when the key is pressed will display the menu on the desktop under the mouse pointer. The menus can be a list of your photo tool apps, games selection etc etc. You then click on the app you want to run. Every F key could have one of these menus as well as the button under the suspend button so thats lots of user menus. The wireless RF is really good as you can be "rooms" away - ok that might not be very useful with the keyboard but it can be with the remote control (turning PC volume down, shuffling music etc). Because of the distances and non line of sight there is a secure feature that encrypts the signal. Mouse: nothing special but it does have a tilt wheel plus zoom feature and is confortable in either hand. It's also available seperately as LX5. I use the Logitech MX700 so the LX5 went in a draw. Remote Control: There are 6 programmable keys, 2 media keys, and 6 player keys (play/Pause etc), a scroll wheel with tilt and a Back and OK key on the main pad area. On the right there's a volume rocker and mute, on the left there's a zoom rocker, image rotate and sleep/suspend button. I liked that it's not limited to line of sight and will work fine in another room. My S510 Media remote kit is not black and silver as advertised just about everywhere but rather black and gun metal. I actually much prefer this and it looks very smart but I was bit suprised when I was expecting silver! There's no mention of gun metal on Logitech's site either.
