Marvellous! December 3, 2007 Christina Terry (Newbold Pacey, Warwickshire) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A friend bought me the skype phone for an early Christmas present. I have to say, it far exceeds my expectations and I am thrilled with it. So much so, I have cancelled my BT phone line!
Good value April 26, 2007 P. M. Daly 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a cheap Skype phone, not the best phone I've ever come across but it works. I've read a review in which the writer criticises it because you can't have the phone's speaker and PC speakers working at the same time - why would you want that anyway? It's just an ordinary phone and when someone rings you you can set it so that either the PC speakers ring (as I've set mine) or the phone's speakers do. What's the problem? It has the usual functions afforded to most cordless phones, has a good battery life, call register function, address book etc. For the money it's worth it.
Works OK April 11, 2007 John Eastwood (Windsor UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
On Skype it seems to work well: a little bit of configuration to enable PC Speakers to be used for everything else whilst phone only uses its own mic/speakers. Haven't got it to connect to my cordless basestation for PSTN yet and probably won't bother. Got to charge the batteries fully first or - like mine - it spends most of its time in the charging cradle. OK at the price but not at the original one!
Real Rubbish January 27, 2007 Marco (Scotland) 2 out of 11 found this review helpful
I just needed a cordless Kype phone to replace my normal one. it seemed a good chice and everything is fine UNLESS you want to be able to still use your PC speaker... tried several settings...forums...Customer Support.... Only worls the phone or the PC Speaker....at the end Customer Supports admitted (Chat Transcript) "Marco: do you mean i can use one or the other? Silvano Luigi F. (24994): I mean in other words, you cannot use the PC's speaker and CIT200 at the same time. Silvano Luigi F. (24994): Yes. you cannot use the PC's speaker and CIT200 at the same time. Silvano Luigi F. (24994): Our engineers are aware of this and they are still trying to come up with a utility that will allow to use the CIT200 and the PC's speaker at the same time. Marco: so in theory if I make a call I should change settings to CIT ...then if i want to hear the windows sound when i get mail I should change to my default? Silvano Luigi F. (24994): That's correct. So unless you want to switch all the time between Speaker and phone.... imagine of you get a call while is on Speakers!!! BEST TO AVOID!!
Great once set up December 29, 2006 J. E. Fowler (New Zealander in Saudi Arabia) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We bought this after a friend had successfully purchased the same phone. So far its been great however the software that came with the phone wasn't up to date and we had some initial problems. Luckily a techno friend of ours was able to direct us to the Linksys site where we downloaded the latest software and reset it up. This could've been a hassel if we didn't have a friend who is a techo wiz as it wasn't immediately obvious that the problem was with the software, infact it appeared to be an issue with the base plate transmitter. You need to also download the latest Skype software to use it to best advantage with Skype. The line quality has much improved and its great to be able to see our contacts who are 'online' on the phone LCD display (however its very slow to scroll down through the contact list). The baseplate transmitter seems to have a good range meaning we can use the phone while walking around the house away from the computer. Good product.
