1 out of 5 stars OK - unless you live in NI.   June 14, 2007

This claims to have 'UK maps' what it actually has is a GB map and a supplementary map of Northern Ireland drawn from memory on the back of an envelope by someone who had visited Belfast some time ago. It is dire: even when it recognises the placenames it is often wildly inaccurate. It takes you along the wrong routes and routinely issues misdirections. I was once told to 'go to the nearest road' while driving along a (twenty year old) twelve lane motorway into the centre of Belfast. I have used this in England and Scotland and it is OK, but for this part of the UK you may as well use the map on the back cover of a European atlas. Buy one of the Garmin Nuvi boxes instead.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Budget Sat Nav   January 14, 2007

This is the 1st Sat Nav unit I've owned, however I'm a bit of a consumer electronics geek and I know what to expect from a good product. This budget sat nav really blew me away. I bought one in the USA (with USA maps, of course) for a 2 months road trip around America.

The mapping data (for the USA) was VERY accurate and I was most impressed. In 2 months of constant daily use it only crashed once. The lack of a touch screen didn't seem to hinder me at all. It is VERY simple to use. A major bonus is that you don't need to use a computer to reload different maps as you move around. It's all stored on the supplied 2GB memory card! It's sturdy, the dash mount is secure and ... well ... I really can't fault this little unit. I'm indebted to navman for getting me out a few scrapes when on my trip :).

Thanks Navman!

This sat nav is fantastic for the price. It works straight out of the box and got me to my destinations quickly and easy. Even if you take a wrong turn it puts you back on track so no worries. The days of pulling over to the side of the road and fiddling with stupid maps are over. Just type in the postcode or address and get to your destination with no stress.

5 out of 5 stars Better than I expected   October 2, 2006

I consider this Navman outstanding. Unpack, stick to the windscreen, plug in and it works. Don't expect to get a signal from inside the garage or parked next to the house wall. It has to see the satellite. Remember to 'click' it into place on the windscreen cradle or it will fall off. Mine did 3 times before I realise my mistake. Very robust, falling off did no damage whatsoever. Take a wrong turn and it automatically re routes you excellently. I have had mine a month. I bought it on recommendation from a lady rep who was fed up with others failing. She could not praise it higher. Neither can I.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this!!!   September 11, 2006

The Navman worked OK much of the time, though it can't cope well with built-up areas and cloudy days - reception affected to the extent that you could wait up to 40 minutes for a signal, at worst. What got me in the end was that, after 7 months, it told me to connect to a power supply while on a journey or it would switch off. It was already connected and down it went. Took it to be repaired and found that this faulty connection is a common problem with this model. Was given a new replacement. It didn't last 7 months, it lasted 7 minutes then conked out. My advice: don't bother.
