A Fantastic Book but not for the Exam January 14, 2003 I found this book to be an absolute inspiration in the way it made me think about application development. Discusses some of less tangible aspects of running a project and makes you consider issues outside the technical development arena. However as a study guide for the exam it's absolutely useless as the exam has nothing to do with the content. Get the transcender test exams if you want to pass the exam (I passed with 985/100) as they'll get you used to the format. But, buy and read this book anyway to further your own knowledge. You won't regret it!
Useless as exam preparation March 18, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
It's easy to expect that because the 70-100 exam is a Microsoft exam, and this is a book is published by Microsoft press, that it is good preparation for the exam.It isn't. Most of the book is an in-depth study of MSF. Sadly, the 70-100 exam is not about MSF. The book also contains a lot of technical information. Some of this is on COM+. This is irrelevant for the 70-100 exam, as COM+ is part of Windows 2000 and has only recently been released. The 70-100 exam is heavy on database design and data flow and related subjects. The book is very light on these areas. Although the book allegedly contains "case studies", they are in fact a strange dialogue that goes on between various characters through the book. There is no comparison between these "case studies" and the ones in the exam. Also, the book gives you no practice at answering questions on case studies, and this is key to passing the exam. Buy this book if you are having trouble sleeping. On the other hand, if you want to pass the exam, find a decent study guide that provides practice case studies, and / or buy yourself a copy of the Transcender practice tests.
GOOD BOOK October 13, 1999 This is a good book to buy for business refernce. However, it should be supplemented with exam cram or another study guide. Look in amazon for more similar study guides books...
Wait. Dont rush. ALL publishers rushed &got this one wrong October 13, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The contents are extremely low for the exams. The solutions in the book are questionable, and are not even close to microsofts' solution. Experience and common sense is enough. Don't rush to by the book!
