Excellent FP2000 reference for beginners/intermediates June 13, 2001 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've read this book from cover to cover and it serves very well as either a reference or a tutorial to getting up and running with FP2000. It's coverage of linking Access databases is probably a bridge too far and this part of the book is too shallow, which is why I wouldn't recommend this for experienced web developers or people already competent in FP2000. But for people who are new to FP2000 this is the ideal book, it covers all of Frontpage's features in a very readable way, and also gives an excellent introduction to web design.
Very poor indeed April 30, 2001 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is probably the worst software manual I have ever tried to use. I am an experienced programmer and am very comfortable using microsoft office applications in general. Rather than taking the reader through a coherent course, the authors have contented themselves with a listing of all the different functions one by one with an explanation of each. If you want to learn MS Frontpage 2000, get something else. This is unlikely to help
An excellent book for an excellent program! June 19, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Running Microsoft FrontPage 2000 is a great book for beginners and advanced users of FrontPage 2000. The book not only gives clear instructions but also develops the user's knowledge of HTML, DHTML and Tags. Well Done Jim Buyens!
Extremely readable and inspirational July 29, 1999 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Microsoft Frontpage 2000 is a great tool. You can build a website even if you don't know anything about HTML code. You can learn Frontpage in a couple of days, just by playing with it. After that, however, you are probably desperate for information on some of the finer points.Running Microsoft Frontpage 2000 from Amazon.co.uk was the answer for me. It towers mile-high above its competitors (I have seen some). It explains all the basics, but it does not stop there. Running FP 2000 reveals many less well or undocumented features, and it tells you about all the pitfalls that you have not considered. Sit down with this book and an idea or a problem, and you will find a solution. Not one question that I had remained unanswered. Running Frontpage 2000 is extremely readable and very inspirational.
Are you kidding me!! July 13, 1999 Frontpage users need to understand that this latest version of FP has totally jumped into the realm of web serving. This book assumes that most FP users allready know or has some experience or knowledge of the admin part of web serving - give me a break! And what's the deal with devoting an entire chapter talking about colors! Wuz up with that! The section on PWS and FP2K Server Extensions are worthless. And that's the most important part of FP if you want to get into the advance component features. Need to rewrite this book in laymen terms.
