5 out of 5 stars Good quality   December 25, 2008
Mr C (England)
This keyboard is great - really quiet, lots of useful shortcuts and quite compact. The only thing to watch out for is that it connects to a ps/2 port on your pc (the small round purple one) and my pc didnt have one so i had to get a wire to convert to usb. But overall i am very impressed and enjoying using it.

5 out of 5 stars excellent wired keyboard   December 10, 2008
Dr. J. L. D. Pearse (Gloucestershire, UK)
Like some other reviewers, I had got fed up with a wireless keyboard (and even more so with a wireless mouse) where the batteries needed frequent changing. The reliability of having a wired link again is great, and the fact that it is PS/2 is fine by me - the "port" on the PC is there anyway, and it leaves my USB sockets for other things. For only 8.99, this keyboard is great. I find the keys nice and light and much quieter than the ones on my old wired keyboard. And unlike one or 2 other reviewers, I don't find them lacking responsiveness. The additional function keys (for opening up msn email, volume control/mute, favourites page, calculator etc) are also very handy. And it looks good - black is much preferable to "computer grey". It would be nice if the legs raised the back of it somewhat higher, but I fixed that with the use of some redundant mouse mats to add elevation.

All in all, a really good value-for-money buy which I would thoroughly recommend to others.

3 out of 5 stars Characters wear out quickly   October 15, 2008
Bryan M. Smith (UK)
I only have one problem with this keyboard(black)is that the characters on the keys dull down very quickly. I`ve only hade it 2 months and the most used keys are really dull and will not clean up.
The beige one with black letters should be better.
I personally prefer PS2 to USB if you have a PS2 port.

4 out of 5 stars Perfectly good   August 16, 2008
Sarah Larsen (Hampshire, England)
If you are used to using laptop keys which are almost flat then this keyboard should be worth buying; the keys are halfway between a laptop and a regular keyboard. I found my last keyboard to be extremely noisy and the keys were so tall that the added effort of typing on them caused my fingers to ache after a while. This keyboard is faster and quieter. For me it suits perfectly. Also I love the shortcuts at the top for calculator, my computer, email, home, and media player.

3 out of 5 stars OK, but not great   May 15, 2008

Given it only costs 7.99 and is the bottom model in Microsoft's range, I feel it would be harsh to award this two stars, so I'm giving it three stars.

The keyboard is functional, with light touch keys & seems reasonably sturdy (though I haven't had it long)

I also liked the fact it had a PS2 connection, so I didn't have to use one of my USB ports and it was wired (I get fed up with buying batteries)

The function keys to launch Explorer etc are also useful.

However, it lacks the "smooth" feel you get on a really good quality keyboard. The keys do feel cramped and the rear of the keyboard is only about 1cm higher than the front (so they keyboard lies almost flat on your desk)

As I result I wouldn't recommend this for large amounts of typing (especially if you have big hands)

In summary, if you're looking for a cheap keyboard & don't intend to do much typing then this might be fine.

But if you intend to do lots of typing, or want a top quality keyboard then I would look elsewhere.
