Product Description
QED Qunex HDMI Cable 1.0m length To ensure seamless compatibility with the latest generation of equipment with HDMI connectivity all QED HDMI cables are fully compliant with the new 1.3a HDMI specifications. What HI-FI? 5 Star Award Winner ! The August edition What Hi-Fi? features a round-up of HDMI cables the reviewers were obviously very impressed with the 7 metre QED QUNEX HDMI-P cable they awarded it 5 Stars saying: inch Stunning value offering a cracking picture. inch inch ...delivers fine depth of field great detail and it handles movement with skill. inch inch ...QED wades in with a remarkably priced product that not only upsets but also rear-ends and writes off the apple cart. inch What Hi-Fi? August 2006 What is HDMI? HDMI uses a new audio and video technology called ?high-bandwidth Transition Minimised Differential Signalling? (TMDS) which helps enable the viewing of uncompressed digital video with integrated audio signals. This means that you get improved pictures and sound from your equipment if you are able to use HDMI connections. In addition HDMI eliminates the cost complexity and confusion of the multiple cables used to connect current home-cinema systems. The HDMI interconnect system is a discreet easy to use format that delivers high resolution video and multi-channel audio signals down a single cable at speeds up to 5 Gigabits/second.

3 out of 5 stars Don't believe the hype!   July 7, 2008

Please don't waste your money on this (or any other brand for that matter) expensive HDMI cables UNLESS someone can demonstrate they make a difference over the cheaper HDMI cables! Having already recently purchased a good / well insulated 10 'no brand' 3 metre HDMI cable from amazon, I was interested to see whether upgrading from a cheapo HDMI cable to the more expensive QED Qunex HDMI-P would make a difference on my Samsung 42" HD ready PLASMA running from the excellent PS3.

Luckily I was able borrow a friend's 1 metre QED Qunex HDMI-P cable and test it whilst playing games first hand. Let me tell you there was NO DIFFERNCE AT ALL in picture or sound quality between my cheapo HDMI cable and the QED one. To make absolutely sure -I swapped the cables around several times and spent ALOT of time observing -still NO difference AT ALL between the two HDMI cables.

NB Be carefull of reviews -i have noticed that MANY people praising expensive HDMI cables in reviews seem to have done so WITHOUT first comparing them side by side to good cheaper HDMI cables(< 20) running off the same equipment. What these reviewers appear to be doing is comparing their 'SCART' cable to an 'HDMI' cable, but NOT comparing one HDMI cable with another. What they dont realise is that an HDMI cable ('any' HDMI cable) is almost always going to beat a SCART cable when viewing in higher defintion.

CONCLUSION: dont believe the hype surrounding expensive HDMI cables VS cheaper ones; by all means go to a proper hifi dealer and ask them to demonstrate different HDMI cables side by side -and if there is an obvious difference to your eyes using the expensive ones then by all means go ahead and spend the money. Based on my own tests though -i'll happily be sticking with what I have!

5 out of 5 stars Worked for me - totally enjoying HD TV and my PS3 now!   May 4, 2008

This is the HDMI cable i got when i bought my HD TV (can't remember whether it was part of a package or if i bought it seperately). But either way, it's worked fine for me and the crystal clear resolution it brings really is worth it.

When HD TV first started picking up i was skeptical about how much of an improvement it would be but upon experiencing it first hand i can say it is not just a noticable improvement, but a massive one - everything becoming all the more lifelike and lush as colours are given a boost of richness and jagged pixelisation on things like water and crowds altogether disspears.

Simple (none of that Scart Socket muddling) and easy to use plus i love the purple colour! Being not overly savvy when it comes to technical components like this and this having been the only cable of this type i've used i can't offer much of a comparison or anything but this is as good an HDMI cable as any as far as i can tell.

5 out of 5 stars one of the best!   December 31, 2007

I stongly advise you to ignore the last review. The fact that this cable won a What Hi-Fi award in 2006 tells you all you need to know. I use the 1m version to connect a Denon DVD-1940 to a Panasonic 37" plasma and the HD upscaling looks awesome. Beaten by the new Chord HDMI Silver Plus 1 over long lengths, this is still the best value HDMI lead on the market up to 1m.

Well about this cable there is too much hype! I was using different companies and sky HD HDMI leads before than as per some online reviews and recommendations I was forced to think that what is the point Driving Marc if you use cheap quality petrol....

Last week I bought 3 QED HDMI-P cables for my Sky HD (1m), Samsung HD870 DVD player (1m) and for my Sony DG910B AMP (2m).

Wola!

There was huge difference in picture and sound is like I am in movie.... NOT!

It gives same picture quality and same sound quality as I was getting before. I ask my wife to check it as well may be I was that time unable to see any difference or my glasses were frost due to cold weather... but that was not the case.

I still do believe to have good cables (expensive ones) when you have good system, but in this particular case/experience I see no difference.

So, I will suggest anyone, do buy good cables but DO NOT spend EXTRA too much on it. About QED if any one already installed good quality 1.3 HDMI cables than there is no point to buy it.

PS: Don't ask about its colour....
