If you compare the prices of some other branded portable speakers these represent good value for money. I thought the previous review somewhat unfair but agree they are not suitable for in car use. I use them with both my MP3 player (Samsung T10) and my Pinnacle Soundbridge internet radio and the volume level and sound quality is more than adequate without using the battery powered amplifier section. Philips offer a passive (non-amplified) version the SBP1100/00 that look the same so presumably sound the same and are even cheaper!

These were rubbish! Sound distorts above half volume, which wasn't much louder that a mobile phone speaker. Tried listening to them in the car whlie driving on the motorway and couldn't hear anything. Set them back for a refund. I suggest you save yourself the hassle by not buying them in the first place!
