| Customer Reviews:
excellent you know you want them!! June 11, 2008 Mr. S. Sadiq (uk) i thought long and hard before getting these. i was convinced from the pictures the speakers would be cheap and plastic, but as soon as i got them, i thought wow the speakers have weight and feel good, plug all the cable in using colour cordination, and wow the sound is amazing, i dont need to use much volume to get sound thats already loud. from now on i will never dout logitech agn. best item i have bought for ages if you thinking of gettin these, definitely get them.
All about them June 1, 2008 George Rushgrove (UK) Very good quality speakers, the sub gives some serious kick, whilst the other 5 speakers provide a great surround sound experience. The sub is pretty large, with 2 speakers; 1 which faces the floor and one which faces out. The other speakers are as shown in the picture. The center speaker easily attaches to the monitor, and the others will attach to the wall easily. Some things to be noted: - The cables aren't very long. About 4m for each rear speaker, 2m for the front speakers and central speaker. All attach to the sub, which then attaches to PC. - 100 on speakers, they only play music, but they have a very good quality. -The control panel allows you to adjust the volume of the speakers individually, which is really helpful - You can feel the floor shaking with the sub - The mesh covers some on and off, to make them look even cooler
Good...when you can work it! April 22, 2008 lwithers1 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am not claiming to be a technical genius, nor do i feel that i am a complete dunce, however i do feel it a little hard to get the best out of these speakers. Set up was very easy, so no problem there, but then i realised that the speakers required 4 outputs from my laptop, of which i only had one.(this meant that the audio only came out of two of the speakers instead of all of them) Because of this i had to purchase a 5.1 USB audio adapter ( 24.99 from Maplin). Again, set up of this was very easy. The problem came when i tried to actually use the speakers! I realised when watching a film through them that the sound was very echoey. This was something that i could not seem to prevent by changing the settings, and am still having trouble with now! Obviously i don't know whether this is down to the audio adapter, as this did not appear to happen when only the two speakers were functioning before this was added. The only other problem i have had with them is that they crack quite a bit! I assumed that this was due to interference, so unplugged my external TV aerial which was near one of the speakers. This seemed to calm it down, but did not completely solve the issue. The only other thing i can assume is that it is interference from my laptop, which i can obviously do nothing about, when this is what i am trying to play music through! Overall i was looking for a good quality system that would accommodate loud volumes and not loose quality. I think this is a fair judgment for the item that i received, but i would think that my only advice would be to only get this if you have the right audio output, as from reading the other reviews i can only assume that these problems have occoured because of my audio adapter!
Great for PC Speakers March 27, 2008 Rob Henry (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This really is a great set of speakers; there is no other way to put that. The speakers arrive in a pretty heavy, well packed and arranged box (about 10kgs for the set). Logitech even provide numbers on the 3 boxes inside, to indicate which order to take them out in. Assembly is extremely easy, as even though the 4 satellite speakers are identical, they have the usual colour co-ordination on the plugs for the speakers. On the back of the sub are connecters for all the speaker inserts, again with all the correct colour co-ordination, and above it are 4 plugs to go to your sound card. Logitech even make this easy, as included in the set is a 4-cable, correctly colour co-ordinated bundle (Front, Rear, Centre/Sub and Microphone wires). After initial setup, you even get the option of an additional L/R audio input, which you can plug pretty much anything into (wire not included though). Using these speakers for the first time is a real treat, when you press the power button on the control pod; you are greeted with a warm, amber glow from the LEDs. At this point, you have the opportunity to see the additional features built into the Control Pod: There are individual switches for the Microphone/Speaker mute (microphone port is next to the headphone port on the front of the pod). There is also a `Level' button, which allows you to control not only the master volume for the speakers, but also the volume of the Subwoofer, Surround satellites, and Centre speaker, without having to mess around in the volume control panel. The `Matrix' button I shall talk about a little later. The quality that comes out of these speakers is really top-notch. The satellite speakers provide a great Mid-High range audio quality, and their bass is impressive for such little speakers. Where the bass doesn't arrive on the satellites, it is definitely made up for on the Subwoofer. The sub fires downwards, straight into the floor and this really makes the difference, most noticeably when things start falling of shelves, the pipes in the walls start rattling, and the neighbours start calling the police. At this point, I must mention that with all these audio tests I have been using a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional. You really should have a decent sound card while using these speakers, the quality that you get using on-board audio will be nowhere near the same. I've had these speakers on full volume, with no distortion at all, and the sound quality being perfect. I have no complaints at all for this. At lower volumes you get precise audio with perfectly balanced treble and mid-range, with a bass that's enough to give you a kick, but not too much to be intrusive. I mentioned previously about a `Matrix' button on the Control Pod. To me, this is both the high and low point of the speaker system. The Matrix function has 3 settings; Gaming, Music and Off. What this does when active is take the 2.0 sound from the game or music that you're playing, and turn it into 5.1 audio. In some cases, this works fantastically, so that you get lead music coming in the front speakers, backing music coming in the rear speakers, and vocals coming through the centre speaker. When this works, it is brilliant, but when it doesn't we see the downfall of this speaker system. If the matrix does not work correctly, you can get very poor audio coming through your expensive new speakers. Occasionally, the vocals get lost, and become very quiet, and coming though the rear speakers is just distortion, with a hint of music. As I said, most of the time this doesn't happen, but when it does, you need to deactivate the Matrix function, and also lose the audio from your rear speakers at the same time. Overall, these are a fantastic speaker set, and well worth the money. If you do get these, make sure that you have a decent sound card to power them, or you will be disappointed with the quality that you receive. Properly powered, and you won't need to buy another set until your neighbours come round and steal these ones. Pros: - Fantastic audio quality - Centre speaker hooks over the top of flat panel screens - Control Pod, with volume control and Microphone/Headphone ports - Matrix function - Good looking speaker design, with identical satellite speakers - Easy to setup and use day-to-day Cons: - Matrix function not 100% successful - I cut myself on the box
Good piece of powerful kit! December 17, 2007 C. CHARMAN (Surrey, UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I love these speakers, they are very powerful with a strong bass and are a very good surround sound set. The reason that i am giving it 4 stars is because of the length of the cables. The rear ones are designed to be wall mounted and this s fairly impossible. Also the sound quality for the rear no where as good as the front. I believe this is because of the matrix and the way the sound is split up to accommodate surround sound. This can solved simply by turning down the rear speakers volume and increasing the center. The control pad is very good with a lot of settings to set up the sound to your perfection. With the option to have the sound set to gaming or music and with various other options to change the sub woofer, surround and center volume seperately. I bought these speakers after allot of research and am glad I did. Even though i have had a few problems the pros overweight the cons by along shot. I was searching for a system to replace my old 5.1 set. I knew that Logitech were a very good make as i have witnessed a similar set by them from a friend and was blown away. I wanted very powerful bass and good quality to play my music(i listen to allot of heavy metal and it works great with the bass). I have tried it at full volume to test them and the quality is truly superb. There is no distortion and the bass doesn't break up. Powerful enough to shake objects on shelves and extremely annoy neighbors. Overall these speakers are a must buy. Simply because of the quality, power and the cost. Extreme value as i could not find another set with the power output at this price.
