does not work June 28, 2008 John Mikkelsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) This product does not work as promised. Placed beside a radio it gives a weak, noisy signal. Cannot use it in my car, there is no signal, not even if I place the Belkin on the carroof beside the antenna !!! Do not use money ons this.
Not worth bothering with - I'm back here to look for an alternative... June 18, 2008 Matthew C. R. Duckworth I bought one of these a while ago and have just got round to trying it out. The signal to noise ratio is dire even under "test" conditions - in the car in the garage or even in the living room via a hi-fi. It's a pity because you can hear that the underlying quality of sound is there, but with the level of noise (hiss) that you get on top, personally I couldn't live with it for more than 30 seconds. So here I am looking for something much, much better (hopefully).
Run it off the car charger June 15, 2008 Mr. C. Mclaughlin (Glasgow, Scotland) This adapter is very good indeed. There is a slight background hiss but you get that on all devices of this type and in my view this one is very much less "hissy" than others I have heard. It is a mute point because if you are using the device in a car you will always have engine noise and wind noise to contend with anyway. One thing to bear in mind is that the device does use quite a lot of power and frankly the two AAA batteries it comes supplied with just aren't up to the job. The sound quality won't be great if you run the adapter off of them. However, the 12V cigar lighter attachment gives a lot more juice and the sound quality improves substantially. If you plan to use this device in the car as I do then you should be very happy with the result.
Belkin Tunecast 2 FM transmitter April 9, 2008 L. Tierney (UK) Good service from Amazon as usual but this product only works when the car is not moving. I have tried it in both cars and there is obviously something loose in the wiring as it crackles loudly when in use. When it does not crackle it sounds OK. Have not bothered to send it back as all the packaging went in the bin when I sliced my finger open on it and I cannot be bothered to repackage and return. I Will buy a different brandto replace it.
Brilliant Gadget March 7, 2008 C. Beesley (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought one of these recently so's I could use my MP3 player in the car. I wanted to use it to play both the MP3 player and the CD Walkman through a decent pair of speakers at home, too. The sound quality is good, and it is true stereo! Watch out for cheaper alternatives, many of them don't broadcast stereo, they only broadcast mono, so you get the same mono sound through both speakers. I didn't want that... This unit broadcasts proper stereo, there's no ignition whine in the car even when using the cigar-lighter lead, and it covers most of the FM VHF band so you can always find a clear frequency. I would recommend always to find a clear frequency by manual tuning. The instructions suggest you find a weak station by scanning, but there is a problem with this. That weak station can get quite strong depending on your movements, the topography, if an aeroplane flies over, etc. When that happens, my car radio gets confused; it's receiving two stations at once, and it mutes everything. So if you get periods of silence for a few seconds at random intervals, its the car radio, not the Tunecast, that's causing the problem! Find a clear frequency and you'll be ok. I have great faith in Belkin products, and this one re-inforces that feeling. I have absolutely no connection with Belkin or any of its employees, I am just a happy customer.
