keeps dropping broadband connection March 29, 2008 R. Warren (UK) Setup no trouble at all (just follow the enclosed instructions), wireless networking works fine, connects to my laptop no trouble, can quite happily cope with laptop + main PC browsing web at same time. Has useful 4 port ethernet switch too. The main problem I have is that it regularly keeps dropping my internet connection while I'm browsing, and if it hasn't been used for a while (eg: overnight) has no connection at all (even though setup says the ADSL is connected fine), and I end up having to reboot it, sometimes several times before I can get online. Once the connection has dropped, it seems unable to reconnect again without a reboot or 3. Maybe it's my phone line, but my previous USB modem worked OK. It does get quite hot too if left on - I've ended up switching it off when the PC is off. Also the setup menus are very "techie" - I'm a fairly advanced PC user, but can't understand half the menu options, which makes it very difficult to trace any faults!
vista installation March 18, 2008 Mr. Jamie Shipley (sunderland, England) this wireless router is very good and reliable, it is good value for money, however it is a pain in the arse to install on vista. if you are not good at computers and you dont know someone who is, i recommend that you do not get this router, if you have xp then ive heard that you are fine
No port forwarding feature February 2, 2008 H. Raju 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought when only 25, which made it a bargain wifi ADSL router. Has ADSL2 support, and WPA2 encryption. There is a firewall built in, but it cannot be configured, which is a shame, since it would otherwise be an excellent budget ADSL router. Nevertheless, has a decent range at home, and maintains the broadband connection without dropped connections. Does have to be restarted in order to change any settings, but since that is generally only done when initially set up, hardly a major problem. Not sure I can recommend at 35 though.
Built down to a price January 4, 2008 T. S. Ward (London) Build quality of the case and on/off switch is poor: it reminds me of a toy. The online instructions appear visually uninspiring; but, having said that, setup was without trouble - all went well at the first attempt. I can't understand the benefit of having indicator lights at the back of the unit to show when a lan connection has been made. Having different coloured lights at the front to show power-on etc is a good idea: easier to decipher than my D-Link modem, which has the same colour status lights for everything. I tested the unit over 1 hour and I am happy with the speed of the modem. I have now disconnected it and have reinstalled my D-Link modem. I shall keep the Dynamode as a back-up.
Dynamode ADSL Wireless Router November 9, 2007 Mr. Michael N. Sweeney Simple to set up and get working (except security). Delivers high speeds and usb adapter work fine. Im no IT novice but have to say so-far I have not been able to decipher the instructions enough to secure my network. For the money this is a great piece of kit.
