This is a great little product. After running out of storage space on my PC this is the easiest way to add more GB.

I love the grille design at the front of the drive and I got this delivered faster than hammond taking off in a dragster ;-)

Very good, and a great price

Yes this is a very good plug and play device, very simple to install and use - however, I purchased one in October for Christmas for my wife. She ran it up first time OK. Second time I plugged it in and the whole kit and caboodle provided a dazzling lightning show with a bit of thunder at the end. I also received an electric shock from the plug and cable end from the transformer as I took the plug out of the socket. It has since proved extremely difficult to get Freecom to correspond so that we can resolve the problem. All in all, the concept is good, but the actual equipment sucks. My advice is don't go near the thing and this experience makes me think why should I bother with any other Freecom equipment.

3 out of 5 stars Annoying whine!   October 28, 2006

I've had this unit a few days now and I suppose I will put up with it. The unit itself looks quite smart being encased in aluminium; it comes with mains adapter and USB cable connection, a power on/off switch and a blue LED 'power on' indicator. A blanked-out space on this model for an ethernet connection rather made me think that I would like a network drive for my next unit, though.

Anyway, this is a truly 'plug and play' device with Windows XP; file transfers are fast and easy, but only 298GB of storage actually shows as being available for use. The drive does the job it was intended for. My only gripe with this machine is that it makes the most annoying high-pitched whining/whistling noise ever! Extremely irritating, but fortunately the unit can be mostly kept switched off!
