To support the higher capacity needs, SD cards are now requiring a different design. The new SD 2.0 specifications which supports 4GB and up, is called Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC). The SD Association has created and defined 3 speed classes to help you identify speed and performance capabilities/minimum requirements of SDHC cards and their SDHC host products. Cards address data (read and write) at numerous speeds. Many factors impede this performance. SDHC guarantees a minimum read and write speed necessary to handle recording high quality video and audio. The maximum card speed may vary, but you can always depend on SDHC cards to meet your SDHC host product's high quality performance requirements.

Superb card, and accessories a huge bonus! July 24, 2008 A. Ogden This is an absolutely brilliant purchase. I use Linux, namely Ubuntu Studio and it plugged straight in and was available immediately, I copied >900Mb of music to the card at a rate of 10Mb/Sec, not too shabby :) The card is very fast and represents value for money in itself, sure there are cheaper cards out there, but this card really is worth the money and includes a SanDisk MicroMate USB Card Reader and nice little Wallet to keep the card reader and some cards in, both high quality little items. Sandisk have gone that little further to give a superb product, top marks!! I paid 14.99, I can't knock it, that's superb value. It's already a no-brainer, if the price drops any more and your after an good SD card, you'd be silly not to buy it.
Star purchase July 14, 2008 G. Spicer (West Sussex, UK) Bought this in conjunction with an EOS 450d and couldn't be happier with it. The included card reader is very handy, as is the case that comes with it and the card itself is simply brilliant. I used a standard 2gig SD card in the EOS when it first arrived and the Extreme 3 has upped the shoot rate and read/write speed a phenomenal amount. Extremely recommended.
Fast, good value July 4, 2008 M. Sommer (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some people believe all the SD cards are the same. But some are really worth the money. The Sandisk Extreme so much faster than other cards in your camera. And it looks very reliable and the goodies (USB card reader etc.) are nice. Good value!
Great performance, stunning price June 26, 2008 David P (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
You just can't go wrong at this price. It is amazing how a fast memory card transforms a camera - it really does make a huge difference. Already had a 2gb version of this in our previous camera, this new 4gb has just gone in our new TZ5 and it is possible to set the camera in infinite burst mode, hold down the button, and it just goes on forever taking a picture about every 0.5 - 0.75 seconds, it never slows down. Amazing speed from this card. It does indeed come with a dinky little USB reader and a carrying pouch and a CD with recovery software. Don't hesitate, just buy it!!!
Last minute purchase June 24, 2008 William the Almost Great (Cork) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this as a sort of after thought--along with some other items I needed. Great value, great performance, and integrates well. If you haven't tried the Sandisk Extreme III SD 4GB Card, the you don't know what you're missing. Why get just one? This is one of the few products that I've actually recommended to my friends. You can't go wrong for the price and size of this little baby.
