4 out of 5 stars Best Value for Money and excellent results   September 29, 2008

I was secptical about buying this scanner after reading a few reviews. But as it was the cheapest I gave it a go. But I think I got more for my money and was really pleasently surprised when I started using it. It is a compact unit which doesnt take up much space. Works exactly as it says on the box, although you do need to read the manual to get the best results. The scanning glass and lights also need to be cleaned (cleaning brush included) quite often, but I think that may be more due my negatives. The included software is adequate if you just want to transfer the pictures, but can get free software from the web if you want to really transform the pictures. Another plus is that it draws the power from the USB port and therefore doesnt have an external power adapter. This scanner does the job and works first time. Highly recommended.

1 out of 5 stars Avoid!   September 25, 2008
Elton John, Queen of England (UK)
I chose this to scan some old transparencies and found it to be a shocking piece of junk - cheaply made and error-prone. I spent 4 hours struggling to make it work properly, endured numerous reboots and reinstalls and ultimately suffered a fatal error. In that time I managed to successfully scan just 4 slides. Life is too short - look elsewhere. I sent it back and bought a Canon scanner instead, which was cheaper, better made and worked straight from the box. See link - recommended! 3 out of 5 stars Not sure what to think yet?   September 12, 2008
Mr. P. T. Lewis (Kent)
I am trying to get it to work, but keep getting the same error message: "Could not connect capture pin #0 to Grabber. Is the capture device being used by another application?"

Has anyone else had this error message? What does it mean and how do I fix it?

2 out of 5 stars does not work with vista 64bit   September 9, 2008

beware that the drivers for this product do not work with 64bit vista. i suffered through a few installs and a bsod, before finally checking the website to see that 64 bit drivers 'may be done soon'. nice.
image quality seems ok from the couple of iamges i have managed to scan. definitely recommend .tif format, much better colour depth than the .jpg option which is pretty bad. also having trouble with the film loading cassette as the sprockets are not lining up with the winding holes on most of my negatives.

Four months after purchasing the Veho I still haven't managed to get it working, despite a steady stream of messages to the manufacturers via e-mail. I would phone them, but cannot locate a telephone No., nor an address.
They did send me another CD to download, but it made no difference. I haven't had any response to my latest communication - a grudging one star awarded because the scanner looks neat, but I can't review something I can't use.
