4 out of 5 stars Pretty decent   September 17, 2008
Scott Kathrein
I had these for a few months before I moved. They are decent. Not bad.

Other reviewers mentioned the hum - it IS an issue. But only if you have them plugged into something else that plugs into the wall. i.e. It did not happen when I had them plugged into my iPod. Unless I touched the ipod, or plugged it in to charge it, then they'd hum. The hum was never noticable when music or anything was playing, only when silent. But you wouldn't want to sleep to it. And the only power switch is round the back..

I never ran into the light flickering issue.

All in all I learned to love them!

2 out of 5 stars Cheap but not cheerful   September 8, 2008

I recently bought a LE46A656 LCD TV (which is all abount looks and picture quality, and not sound) and so stole my PC's Logitech Z-2300 speakers which produce a very good, basey crisp sound. So I needed a cheap set of speakers for my PC until I got a proper home cinema system for the lounge.

I went through most of the Internet, Ebay, Amazon, Aria, Ebuyer etc. etc. and based on the reviews on this page and weighing up price etc. to spend out on a temp pair of speakers, I took a punt of these with people saying how good they were and the base they produced being good.

Well..Take it from me, these speakers show why they are so cheap ( 16.99 with free p&p) because they are toilet.
They cant handle any base at all, and sound very tinny. I have an Audigy Sound card, and have tried tweaking it in Windows setting, Media player settings and the sound card settings but it still sounds pony. The satilites cant handle s0d all and also distort at high levels.

If your a man/lady that likes deep heavy, un-distorted at loud levels base DO NOT buy these speakers, buy the Logitech Z-2300. Yes they are 100, and these 16, but it's worth the extra.

The only thing these really have going for them is the looks. The front of the base unit is stainless steel, has blue lite up nobs, and also various plastic 'chrome' trim.

To sum up pros and cons:

Pro's:
- Looks - stainless steel, Chrome plastic
- Blue light round bass and volume (which others say goes faulty in short time)
- Price (If that can be a pro when they produce Egg & Bean quality sound)

Con's:
- Bass distorts at most levels
- Satilites distort and dont like going loud
- Wire from Bass box that has to be plugged in is fairly short so forget running it somewhere to be hidden. Lead about 1m long.
- No..Yes NO low level bass, even if bass nob is turned right up (turn it up on your system, and it will distort..I tried!)

Verdict:
If you want a cheap temp pair of speakers, pay the 16 for these and you get what you pay for.
However if you are buying a set of speakers that your going to have quite a while, like base, want to use them as a high-fi or for parties, buy the Logitech Z-2300.

Hope this helps!

5 out of 5 stars great things come in small packages!!   August 27, 2008
G. Kirby (Portsmouth, UK)
Got these speakers only two days after placing my order in, and my word what a way to please me; not only do they look very smart and compact, but they throw out such an amazing sound!! Especially with the adjustable bass levels!!!

Being a university student I was looking for a cheaper product, and ow boy have I more than got my moneys worth with this system!!! I mean I'm using it on a laptop and already its enough to drown out my parents CD player constantly playing ABBA, with a bit of my personal favourites of Motley Crue and many other bands!!!

So if there are any people out there looking for a cheap system that will blow your mind literally, this is the speaker system you want to purchase as I guarantee you will instantly come to reality of how powerful and good this system is!! If you disagree I will deffen myself using my own TRUST 2.1 Speaker Set SP-3450Z UK!!!

5 out of 5 stars Bang !!! Bang !!! Bang !!!!   August 1, 2008
Kartik
this is damn great speakers. have this for almost 4 months now. I have around 100 GB of banging TRance music, and these speakers rock. Pure bass and treble. The speakers are average in size, with long chords and simple functions.

Would recommend , go for it

2 out of 5 stars I shouldn't have Trust-ed them....   July 18, 2008
Neil Hallam (Derbyshire, UK)
I bought these for my teenage son to use with his pc (he often plays music while he's online gaming, etc). I had a set of Logitech 2.1 speakers that I've had for a few years, and I'd always been very pleased with their performance. The bass was especially good, and the balance between the satellites and the sub was very good for music, DVD's and games - a really good all-round product. Given that they cost me around 15 about 4 years ago, I was well pleased. I'd wanted to buy another set of Logitech's this time around, but the one's I wanted were out of stock. So, based on the existing reviews, I plumped for this set from Trust instead of being patient and waiting for what I really wanted....

First impressions :- The speakers look pretty good, the brushed aluminium finish on the sub adds a touch of quality, although I can see that the shiny finish on the volume and bass knobs will probably wear off quite quickly. The blue lights around these knobs looks ok, not too bright. The satellites look good on the desktop, not too big and a nice fabric mesh to cover the front.

First disappointment came before I'd even played anything through them. When the PC is off, but the speakers are left on, the sub hums. I've experienced this before, but only ever as a low volume hum which is barely audible after a while. These hum big time. No way you can leave the speakers on when not in use. Given that the power switch on the sub is on the back, it's not good. If the power switch had been positioned with the other knobs on the front, then ok. But you either have to reach around the back of the sub to switch it off, or around the back of the pc to pull the audio cable out. Not much of a choice there. Never had any hum from my Logitech's, so not pleased by this. You need to be aware of this when chosing where to site the sub. Maybe Trust could sell this as a Green feature to encourage owners to switch off instead of leaving on standby....

I was hoping that the sound quality would go some way to make up for this disappointment, but it was not to be. The whole sound is generally thin and tinny and lacking in real depth, even with the bass adjustment turned to the max on the sub. Played a variety of music ( e.g. Jamiroquai, Switchfoot, classic Genesis), none came over as well as my Logitech's. The blend was also poor - the absence of bass combined with the noticably thin sound from the satellites could be heard quite distinctly apart from the sub, even though the sub itself was also relatively thin sounding. For me, it was simply disappointing.

These speakers may be ok for some, depending on the level of expectation. It's true that you're not going to get "real" hi-fi quality from a set costing as little as these but the Logitech's that I have gave me a benchmark which this Trust set fell a long way short of for me. I've left it with my son to make the decision over these as he will be using them, not me. If I'd bought them for my own use, I would be returning them and replacing them with Logitech's, even if I had to pay more than I'd initially wanted. You buy speakers to listen to audio through - if they don't do that to satisfaction then what's the point? As for Trust? Well, I wouldn't.....
