Good value, works well July 16, 2008 G. Krawczyk (bristol uk) This dongle provides a good signal even three rooms away from transmitter. Its very easy to install and is pretty cheap. Bargain.
Easy to install, poor performance. July 13, 2008 Mark J. Boyall (England) It works very well, I found it very easy to install, supports 64bit as well. I will say that I got some HORRENDOUS CONNECTION ISSUES with mine, namely response time being unacceptable, and it not connecting over 802.11g, despite being advertised as supporting this. Swapped back to my old network adapter and all was fine. Sending off for a refund right away. Basically, for generic use it is fine, absolutely recommended for ease of install. Performs poorly under pressure though, not useful for games, VoIP, etc.
Excellent connection July 7, 2008 Eze Ogbonna (uk) This connected easily to my router which is in the upstairs bedroom when encryption is turned off on the router. when i turn on encryption, wether wep or wap, it doesn't connect. For a tenner it has excellent signal strength and doesn't drop the connection. The authentication issues might have something to do with my wireless seimens router so i can't put it down to this adapter. Excellent buy none-the-less
Shakey Start But Microsoft Saved The Day July 6, 2008 Filthy Raider (Dorset, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hooked this up to the kid's PC (a Dell with XP that had previously had a ethernet LAN connection). Early signs were not good. It could pick up our router and a few neighbours! But no joy in connecting. Had followed the installation right but the Sweex software was not having any of it. Anyway, a bit of quick research and I was pointed to Microsoft Article 871122 (you might want to look that one up if you get any issues). This basically switches the control to XP and not the software and BINGO! Instantly on, easier to configure via Windows and has provided a briliant connection since. Highly recommended, but if you get any issues, drop the software and let XP do it. I have a laptop with wireless built in, but my experience of Vista is that it would sort it out as well. Another tip is maybe look at a USB extender - that way if your signal on the laptop or desktop is poor at least you can move it round on the end of the extender to improve reception. At under a tenner you can't go wrong.
R.I.P Netgear July 4, 2008 Joe Holman (West Sussex, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Absolutely fantastic, took a couple of minutes to get up and running on xp machine and no compatibility issuses, unlike previous netgear usb adapter. Very well priced and works a treat I would recommend to anyone.
