Absolutely brilliant product. Really small size, nice build quality and finish. I use it to backup my Macbook Pro with Apple's Time Machine software, and it works very well indeed.

I got this to backup everything on my laptop, it's very easy to use, very small in size & looks smart. I looked into getting a case to protect it and keep the cable with it, turns out the Nintendo DS Lite cases are the PERFECT size & they even have a zipped compartment you can store the cable. I'd definately recommend this to anyone

Bought this to sync my laptop and computer. When I tried to install the sync software it just repeatably hangs so have given up on that. There are no instructions and the "user manual" does not explain anything! However, if you only want to use it as an external drive for backup then that is no problem. 3 stars as it does not do what it says on the tin.

Originally bought a year or so ago it broke down recently, as verified with the WD drive checking software available at their website and was returned to WD UK for repair. Three weeks later I have received a replacement unit. Very pleased with WD's product and service. Less impressed with Amazon's customer service but I suppose that is the nature of cheap internet retail. Can't have it all! My Toshiba Tecra 8200 requires a double ended USB cable to provide additional power for the hdd which is a bit of a nuissance and an additional expense. I note the Lacie ehdd is supplied with the double ended USB cable. I would like to add another point relevant to this and other items too and it concerns fingerprints; wash your hands! ;-)

Excellent little piece of kit. Simple to use - no real installation as it sets itself up. I'm not particularly 'techy' so I don't know whether it's fast or not but it does all I want it to do - backing up pictures, documents etc. and with the included software you can take your own desktop images, programmes and work with you to use on any computer. Jolly clever.
