Go with the Home Edition June 23, 2008 Mr. J. Stevens (UK) I got these after reading positive reviews from numerous websites. The headphones arrived, and were packaged very well, tied in a red ribbon to set it all off! I was quite please with the build quality, although the inline remote is made of slightly cheap looking plastic. The headphones, whilst on the heavy side, are comfy to wear. The problem arose when I plugged the headphones into a power source, either direct into my PC via the usb port, or via the converter into a wall socket. Without plugging the audio jacks into anything the headphones emitted a high-pitched whine. I tried various solutions, including trying other machines, and other locations encase it was interference. When none of this worked, I tried the internet. After much searching I found that certain usb headphones can sometimes not draw enough power via the usb and so produce the aforementioned high pitched whine. In fairness, I couldn't find any direct examples of these headphones doing so, but having read the other reviewers post on the damage they did to his usb ports, I'd advise anyone thinking on investing in these to go with the Home Edition, which comes with a external amplifier, and works fine.
Shocking build quality. January 1, 2008 M. Williamson (Norfolk, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you want a good gaming headset then in terms of sound quality, this is the headset you want. But if you want one that wont fall apart in your hands then spend your hard earned money on something a bit more solid.
Quality November 5, 2007 Kurt Baird 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Absolute quality. Have owned a pair since Feb .07 and the sound quality is awesome. Knowing exactly what direction your enemy is in really does give you an advantage on the battlefield. The mic is also crystal clear, no problems with it at all. I have never had any problems with it breaking, only through my own clumsiness. I would really recommend these to anyone!
Medusa 5.1 Progamer Toasted My USB Ports April 10, 2007 Conflict (UK) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have owned a Medusa 5.1 headset before, it was excellent until the headset snapped. I bought a Medusa 5.1 Progamer to replace it, however within 3 months my USB ports on my game system stopped working and the motherboard required USB to be disabled in BIOS before it would boot. The USB cable on the Medusa 5.1 Progamer now gets very hot, when plugged into other systems, which is a sure sign that the headset is drawing too much power from the USB ports, and if left unchecked, it may blow the USB capacitor/resistor on my new motherboard. Stay clear of this USB powered device, if you want to buy a Medusa system, then look at the Medusa 5.1 that has an external PSU and no USB support.
Disappointed but ok November 29, 2006 Mr. S. Levy (Uk) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought my first set of these quite a while back now and since then I have had to get them replaced about 3 or 4 times due to the mic breaking or the ear pieces not being able to handle any form of bass. This may just be bad luck on my part and since the first pair that i bought they have vastly improved the mic and they no longer break. However, I'm still having problems with the earpieces. Overall, I think the headset is great for the price as there are some that are more expensive and no where near as good. If you require precision sound and good communications, these are the way to go. They have, as I have said, given me problems with breaking so this might be something to consider when making your purchase.
