Great cam with quality video June 7, 2008 J. J. High 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After much research I bought this webcam and it is a superb product. It looks good. Picture quality is great even in low light. I cannot believe that video calls can now be made at this quality for not much expense. I can remember when my company had to set aside a room dedicated to video conferencing. Whether you use this webcam for Skype or just to add video clips to your e-mails it cannot be faulted. The software loaded instantly and the camera worked as soon as it was plugged in.
Simple to Install and Stunning picture February 21, 2008 mary (ludlow UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this webcam as an upgrade from my old Logitech pro 3000, mainly because I needed a webcam which would sit on top of my LCD screen, also because I believed I needed a better quality picture and sound. Needless to say I have not been disappointed. I didn't need to uninstall my old software, I just loaded new software which took about 7mins, configured sound and picture via the wizard and that was that. I run XP home and had no problems. It looks good and works perfectly, so not a bad piece of kit for the price! Though if you shop around it can be found a little cheaper.
Great quality webcam June 1, 2007 P. Bayfield (UK) 35 out of 35 found this review helpful
I already have a 1.3 megapixel Logitech camera for my laptop which is a great quality camera, however the software doesn't support Windows Vista. This camera was the obvious choice for me for my desktop with a similar 1.3 megapixel sensor and Vista support. Video - The software supports 3 modes - Email mode (320x240), VGA mode (640x480) and HD mode (960x720). The picture quality in each mode looks sharp and the colour depth is good. The camera also has autofocus which seams to work well with a few test videos I've done so far with it, all the previous webcams I have owned have been manual focus so it is a really nice feature to finally have on a webcam. Recorded video quality looks great on playback and is smooth in all resolutions. Videos are recorded as WMV files rather than the AVI used by older Logitech cameras, I've had problems with codecs in the past so this is a better option in my opinion. Stills - Still pictures are what you would expect from a webcam, they look good for what they are. If your looking to take good still shots a digital camera would obviously be the best option not a webcam. Software - The latest version of the Logitech software is a huge improvement on previous versions, it's very simple and easy to use and runs quickly and smoothly. I've tested the camera with quite a few applications, no problems with Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Skype video calling. There are some clever features in the software such as face recognition which allows you to pick an avatar and it responds to your movements and facial expressions (although it is a bit flakey), also the face tracking which works really well with this camera. Under Windows Vista for some reason the camera does not show up under the 'Scanners and Cameras' section in Control Panel which means that it also does not show up in some applications, I'm told that this is not an issue in Windows XP however have not tested this myself. I don't personally consider this a problem as I would generally use the webcam for video conferencing, my digital camera for stills and a DV camera for home video style recordings. Design - It's quite a nice looking device, a little bigger than I was expecting, the flexible LCD monitor clip is a nice idea too - it will fit a slim screen or a more chunky screen like the 24" I have. Overall this is a great webcam, with a good quality picture and the perfect accessory for video conferencing.
is that all one can expect from a webcam? January 15, 2007 fruitglace 20 out of 38 found this review helpful
I chose this webcam as it was the top-of-the-line model of Logitech who is the webcam market leader in Greece where I come from. I am unhappy on two accounts: 1. The quality of the picture and especially the colour fidelity in normal indoor lighting conditions is disappointing. Also movement when recording video to the host computer is jittery. 2. The webcam cannot be used by the Windows Movie Maker software in Windows Vista. An exchange of emails with the UK technical support did not resolve this issue. I was referred to Microsoft.
