Great camera but rubbish software. July 27, 2008 Mr. J. S. Tagestam I've had so many problems with the software for this so I think you should just buy the camera and ignore the software, it's just full of bugs and about it tries to set about a million programs to start when windows start. Yaawn!
Best Webcam out there..! May 24, 2008 M. Leonardo This webcam is seriously the best out there in quality...its was easy to install, literally just plug it in..no need to install the drivers from the disc and the image quality is magnificent and so is the audio...and it comes with a need head set......however I can't seem to use the Creative software that came with it, it says it cannot detect the webcam :( ....but nevertheless, its still great..!
Tragic January 14, 2008 J. Hughes (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this seeking an improvement on the Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 that I use for video recording and for Messenger conversations. I was after an improvement in the already good image quality, and in sound quality too. I am very sorry to say that despite a 2.8Ghz processor this camera would not record video at 680X480 resolution without being jumpy and out of synch. The problem appears to be software, which is massively heavy compared to the Logitech model I have. It seems to be much the same as used by the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, which also had tragic performance. If you are looking for a good general webcam then the Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 is great, but this Optia is more for the kids. Getting the image quality tuned in on this is dreadfully difficult compared to the Logitech. I have now sent for a Philips SPC1300NC/00 to try.

Mixed reviews for this product, but I've no idea why? I use Windows XPx64 (Yes it's another Creative piece of hardware that's automatically compatible with 64bit Windows) and this installed with no issues, just follow the quick start guide and you really won't go wrong. The picture quality is awesome, just having the auto focus is enough, record video, images, manipulate images, create avatars, good microphone - no need for a seperate one, and links perfectly with Skype. I've been using this camera with Skype to talk to my friend in Perth WA and have had no issues whatsoever. GO FOR IT!
