Vista/XP Pro - Works perfectly with either. October 24, 2008 Mr. M. W. Patten (London, England) I have the 3000, 1000 and the 7000. ALL work on my XP Pro laptop/ Vista Home Premium laptop and finally my main desktop pc with Vista Ultimate. Perfectly. Not only are they used for MSN Messenger and Skype to friends around the world, but as a Neighbourhood Watch Leader, two are used on a daily/nightly basis as security cameras for our premises. I do not wish to sound rude, but 99% of people who have failures such as described by some here, is down to the user and the system setup. I speak as a Remote Help Desk to many friends AND clients who use me to maintain their system files and back-ups AND installations of software/hardware (hardware via telephone as well as he remote software (pcAnywhere). May I suggest you have your system checked by your local computer nerd or shop and I feel you may find the webcams working as brilliantly for you as they do for me. Cheers.
Very Easy to Use June 14, 2008 A. D. LLOYD-JONES (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like a lot of homes we run two computers a laptop and a desktop. One on XP and the other Vista Home Premium. Set up on both OS was very simple and integration with Live Messenger got us to a live video web chat with our family in minutes. Picture quality on this camera is excellent. I'm not sure if we'll use some of the gimmicks but better too much than too little.
Will not work with a Vista O.S March 2, 2008 J. Santman (Netherlands) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
On the box this camera is marked as "Vista Certified". However, even after downloading the latest Vista Webcam software from the Microsoft website, the installation failed because the required drivers could not be found. I have reported this to Microsoft and got back a totally useless reply "try and re-install the software" The camera will operate with Windows XP, but with Vista it turned to be a total disaster. I can therefor not recommend purchase of this item for use with a Vista O.S.
